Parisilk Katong - Highly recommend look for Andy. Real friendly and patient guy.

Parisilk Holland - Everyone is friendly, but my personal all time favourite is to buy from Kevin, the owner. Excellent gentleman. If you go on weekdays, when it is not so busy, can even have small chats with him on the equipment he selling.

Last but most importantly, I have not seen anywhere in Singapore that sells Canon gears cheaper than Parisilk, other than those shops that sells grey sets. It is the only shop I go to after previous experiences with other shops. I have bought 4 cameras from them over the past half year alone, both for myself and my family members.

Was at TK wanted to buy Nikon 24mm f1.4g, has anyone been allow to try on the Nikon 24mm f1.4g at the shop for test shooting? Because I was told no testing on this particular lens. 1st time wanted to buy a 'gold ring' Nikon at TK. I was wondering is it their policy that no testing on high end lens? Or anyone had tried the Nikon 24mm f1.4 w/o purchasing at the shop? If so I'll respect that.

No testing as far as I know. Only after purchase.

I tried once with Cathay via equote to haggle the price when I mentioned that other shops in funan (reputable ones) are selling cheaper, wondering if they can match the prices to seal the deal and purchase from them. After much careful and nice discussions (don't be arrogant) they did match the price range. :) it could be just a one time off or just a lucky day for me but overall, regardless if they dont adjust the price, I'll still buy from them :)

Atleast when you walk out from the shop, you have a peace of mind feeling that u spend your money's worth to a good gear plus a good customer experience.

From my earlier post #607
On the same day, I walked across the street to CP and I told them to match the price and they agreed. Best of all, they allowed me to test the lens with no obligations . Btw, I bought the lens after some testing. CP

This is the service I get at CP. Testing wthout the obligation to buy. I could just walk in to say I want to look at certain lens and they would let me play with it even as I say I am not not ready to buy but just checking it out. I think this also has to do with being a loyal customer. Their price is not the lowest in town but I think it worth the service.

MS Color  I bought all my camera lenses and body from them.
Good prices.

Alan Photo Funan :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Personal experience, i went down to Alan Photo to get a remote for my camera and discovered all were sold out. Their sales staff was very nice and kind enough to "innovate" one on the spot for me, when i was about to leave. The staff, i forgot the name, he was "Joe" or "Jos" something similar. He taught the new staff to innovate the remote for me, and it worked really fine on my camera.

It was a very good experience as i made a long trip down to Funan from YCK after work. So much so i bought a lowe backpack and a new tripod from them too.

I also have something to say about 3:16. I went down to enquire about getting a macro-converter-filter from them. I must say their sales staff is very good technically and are nice to explain even though they know i may not be getting any stuff from them. So service-wise no complains and even compliments.

But whats amusing is this, i personally already know getting a macro lens is better than the converter. When i was about to leave, this sales staff's colleague came over and made this remark. "If you don't spend more to get a macro lens, you don't love photography". That is the statement of the day for me. It made me flabbergasted.

Perhaps he took his work of art seriously, thats why he made the statement, so its fine with me, but honestly to me it also means telling a poor kid that if he don't go and get that shiny golden parker pen, he don't love his education. Thats ridiculous.

So having got it off my chest, the best experience of the day is still  Alan Photo for me.

Sometimes we got to be careful of the brotherly loves and pretentious greetings behind the faces. Ray n Hanwei from SLR are straight to the point and give attractive pricing. Best of all, no need to spends hours to queue to buy.

I find SLR Revolution gives pretty decent cash price.

I guess John 3:16 don't like my face or they are overrated. One of them quoted me above Canon SRP, which based on their reputation here, I was shocked (the item was out of stock at that time). I ended up buying directly from Canon.

Hi, i am new here and also new in photography ..

just wanna ask whether can Artworkfoto be trusted and is there any senior out there buy lens from them b4???

as i know they only sell lens that is without local warranty...

Yes they can be trusted but the usual procedure of check and testing still applies. And yup, their camera and lenses are 1 year shop warranty

Which item was that? Good to point out for the sake of forumers.

Sigma lenses do tend to have focusing issues, which is why they offer to do a one time calibration for each lens. I'm not sure if the warranty for grey sets covers calibration, if they don't then local sets might be a better choice. Local sets also have longer warranty compared to the one year warranty the shops provide.

Actually, they offer 2 times calibrations on the same lens, and only for locally distributed copy. Grey set and International warrantied sets are not covered.

Some shops selling grey set are aware of such issues and have come up with various unique offers to help their customers with this issue.
