Anyone voting for 24-70 f2.8L? Definitely my fave on my 30D... Voted Others... Haha...

A stunning lens for self-portraits. Excellent for anything else.

But I do like the 50 f/1.4 too though.

50 1.0.. especially if you just want only the eyeball to be in focus. :bsmilie: needs fast shutter speed though but fun as hell to pixel peep afterwards

Just a question... for portraits in a studio, will the 135mm or 85mm more suitable??? Assuming FF.... I am interesting in signing for studio photogaphy with SPS...

135mm you probably cant move back far enough in a studio, even 100mm is long. 85mm just nice. A studio don't have distracting backgrounds that needs a long lens...

I have the 135mm SF, great for soft AND "sharp" portraits. I used it during a friend's wedding and they exclaimed it's so much better than the hired photographer's...duh.

But too bad for lens collectors cos it's such a old lens, you won't find a UUxxx code for this lens. Mine is a UF.....:bsmilie:

What about the Canon 100mm f2 and the 100mm f2.8 Macro ?

What are the comments for these 2 then ?

Thanks. ;)

just getting started on portraiture..most comfortable shooting between a range of 85-135mm, so if i had to pick a lens for portraiture it would be a 70-200 f/4 IS USM, not that I have one. =)

85mm f/1.2L is the one. =D

haha, 85mm f/1.2? I don't know about that, since I haven't shot prime before (*gasps*) and i like flexibility for focal range.

Hmm good point. Still slowly saving my allowance for a 50mm f/1.8. lol.

LOL. That's an idea I could work with. Hahahaha. Have no time to go shooting until nov/dec anyway. So no rush to get any new equipment, including the 50mm f/1.8

Wow..so many people got 85L!
So people use it mostly handholding or on tripod?
make me feel like having one too!
Presently will use 35L.

Currently only have a 70-200f/4 leh. Been playing with the rest. Yea slowly saving up for the 2.8 IS now hehe..

Start going to gym to build up those muscles too. My left arm aches after every shoot with this big mama.

handholding if shooting portraits during events. =)

85mm f/1.8 is already gd. f/1.2 is simply best =)

I think include a massage session after a shooting session as well =D

No need to go gym... since the big mama already help you build muscles :bsmilie:

Hmm. strange choice of focal length, its great for candids, but it takes some discipline to learn not to crop too tight. Its always good to give your subject some working space instead of cropping to see just his/her face. I find my juniors especially susceptible to this.
