I observed that not many people vote for the 70-200mm F4L. Any idea? This should be a lens which is light and easy to carry around especially for outdoor portrait shoot.

Over in CS, a large nos favour the f2.8 version. The heavier and more ex the better :bsmilie:

not to mention primes give v.nice bokeh. :)

comparing focal length-to-focal length, f2.8L able to give a stop higher of bokeh (some say 'better') that f4L cannot give....

50mm f/1.8 is my choice.
Cheap cheap, lightweight and indoor lens!

Maybe there should be a different poll for those on FF and 1.6x LF DSLR.
I believe the result of the poll will be very different.

i wouldn't bet on the old favourites 50/1.4, 85/1.8, 85L, 135L not being there though..

With a 30D, it used to be the omni-potent 50mm f/1.4 prime. But on a 5D, the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS has become quintessential portrait lens for me

with a 30D, 70-200f2.8L IS is still my beloved portrait lens... I love the weight... wow.. woo...

i would use 50 1.8 and 16-35 from what i have

what i would like to use is 35 F1.4, 50 F1.0(if can find)

the amount of usage, if you count by frames shot, the 85/1.2 can be argued, on a cost per frame basis, the cheapest lens I got.

My next dream lens  ... LOTs of saving up to do...

May be a curse, very heavy  . Add hammerhead flash and Cam with battery grip, .

I cant afford the 70-200 f2.8 IS nor 85mm L.

135mm and 200mm are too limited.

So i go the 70-200 f4 IS

Just bought the 85mm F1.8 as I can't afford the F1.2L. The lens has back focus problem and I have to bring back to Canon to calibrate. :( I already change the lens at the shop but still the same problem.

Any bro experience this on the 85mm F1.8 before?
