Seems like nowadays the LCD protector are all the thin and flimsy type.

Anyone knows where I can get the hard plastic kind? I find them tougher and can last longer.

Btw, anyone doing any MO for LCD screen protectors?

Thanks.

Thanks. Yes that's one of them. But can't find it in Singapore.

Most shops I go to sell the cheapo thin ones. Some look like made in China or Taiwan type!

Don't really like it as they don't last and can scratch like crazy. Not being paranoid here, I know the protector is to protect the LCD screen from scratches but at least it should be of decent quality?

Love the hard plastic type when LCD screens were tiny 1.8" but ever since digital cams' screens go 2.5"-3", most manufacturers sell the thin ones. Cut costs?

Hmm...it could also be 'coz some manufacturers simply don't make cameras with the necessary catches for the heavier plastic protectors? For me the easy way out is to get a laptop screen protector and cut appropriately sized squares every time I need a replacement. It's a heckuva lot cheaper per sq cm. Pretty decent light transmission, too.

Oh you need a catch for the thicker type plastic protectors? I don't have any catch on my previous cam. Love it a lot, cos it stays in shape and surface remains very clean for long.

If you want protectors that dont scratch esaily, get ones from Brando - the matt ones don't scratch at all and last very very long.

Thin protectors adhere to the screen beter than the thick da protector ones. Last I used the da protectors, they tend to fall off easily whenever a lateral force is applied.

go to doml.com.sg

They have a office somewhere near outtram. They have the facilities to CUSTOM fit martin fields LCD protectors. Looks very nice.

Do you know what they use to custom cut LCD protectors? Penknife or some machine?

You can try Giottos Brand. They make a range of solid glass LCD protector customised for different Canon and Nikon models, as well as general sizes. They use Schott glass with different grade of coating. You can find them at K-13 in Pennisula Plaza or AP at Funan.

Have you try the Giottos? Is it very difficult to take out?

I've not tried but it should be too difficult as it uses a light adhesive (from what I can tell when I put the thing on) to bond the protector to the camera.

Do you have to use a hairdryer?
