Heard from CP that it sells for $70 for my 420EX. It's rather expensive as compared to my sto-fen omnibouce which costs only $30. Just want to try out the effects for the lightsphere.

I have both the LSII and the omnibounce. I have done a very quick test with these plus a home made bounce card. the test was NOT scientific, i.e. I didn't put much effort in and only eyeballed the LCD to compare results.

IMHO the LSII and simple, home made bounce card are close, very close, with the omnibounce coming in third (but still better then nothing). I haven't done the same comparison (yet) with the dome on the LSII, I expect that this will win hands-down - the down side is that it attracts more attention then any big white lens I might put on the front of my camera

So can i say that a lightsphere is better than an omnibounce??

i bought a sheet of white pvc (about b4 size) from artfriend for about $3.50 if i recall. can cut up to make 2-4 bounce cards depending on size. i'll take a photo of it tonight and post if i remember.

Do you mean one side is gloss & the other side is semi-gloss type? :)

Wow, you gotta show a picture of that man... pic pls!

I was (and still am) trying to experiment with the different things like bounce card and stuff like that. I DIY a Lumiquest pocket bouncer. It's like a bounce card tilited at 45 degrees to throw the light forward, keeping the flash head 90 degrees up. Cos for events, ceilings quite high.
Dunno what size to make flash card, so I made 2... smaller one 3"x3", bigger one 4"x5". All using old foolscap pad backing. Strong and fairly thin. Paste photo paper on one side. It's pretty bright white, so I guess no much light is lost. No chance to try in actual event yet though...

oh yes... to attach all the stuff, I use the small black rubber band from army. Perfect fit on the flash head, and it's abt 1cm thick, so very secure. Highly recommend it!

I feel the LS provides better results, but it is unweildy and awkward to use. The OB provides good results and is easy to use, fits in the bag nicely (can even leave it on the flash).

in fact I hardly use the LS anymore.

When i first saw the LS II Photojournalist (PJ) at CP, it's a soft rubber-like material type of diffuser and keeping it in a bag will take lots of space. Then if actually squash it won't it deform over time?

Yeah... 1cm wide... sorry...

No need say sorry bro. I'm just writting for fun lar...

Being a pro, I have a very high-tech solution to this problem.

I usually use my left hand, temporarily extended behind the flash head like a bounce card. It is warmer than white, which gives a nice, flattering fill card warmth. And it is always ready - no rubberbands needed. :)

Better yet, get a lightstand and really get the most out of your small flash. There is a lot of information on that here.

for me its the flip-it! swear by it (if i one day really decide to swear by sth...)

mux promote the LS PJ(II)......

get one, experiment with it on ur flash-gun, practise and perfect ur flash technique. the Lightsphere makes my flash photography much easier and results, much more enjoyable! take it from me!

u dun need multiple or complex flash to enjoy ur fotography. anyway, one step at a time!

So with a LS, does that mean that bounce card and omnibounce dun need liao?
