still undecided on the EX580 though.

While it will be useful, more often than not, I cant be caught using flashes inside alot of places that i visit.

430ex would be sufficient for general purposes. i prefer to go without flash when i go travelling, flashlight is rather fierce n rude when using it when i go travel.

Actually, if used correctly, it can be quite flattering. :bsmilie:

Most likely I will leave chargers in hotel or coach, I only need to carry items that I need to take photograph. Looking at the items you mentioned, it will not be that heavy if we consider only the cameras and lenses. Can advise which bag you used ? I am quite sure Lowepro Stealth reporter type would not be useful as ergonomically it's not helpful and cause aches after one day shoot with just 2 cameras, 2 lenses and one external flash.

I used a compu trekker. As it was cold in China, didn't break into too much sweats carry it and the load.

I am hoping to be bringing this on my trip to burma.

EFS- 10-22
EF- 24-105 (no $$...temp sub with 17-85)
580 EX
40D

Weight is not a problem. But finding a right back to put these and my travel necessities is a problem.

i brought my 20D, 10-22, 17-40 and 135 for a trip recently. I put the cam in my deuter and 2 lens in a waist pouch. Din feel the weight at all. This prompt me to decide to come back and get the think tank modulus system. :)

5D + 17-40L for wide angle, landscape shots!
40D + 70-200L for zoom shots.

Probably that's all, but may bring a 17-55 2.8 + 580EX if i need to take low light shots

going bankok next month.

will be trying out my stealth reporter 300AW.

hopefully it will be able to meet my needs.

If not, i may consider domke....

Typically I would leave out flashes for travel. If really die die need some sort of fill in, still can use my pop up flash for last resort ;)

For my last trip to Chiangrai, I just brought my 10-22 and 70-200. Actually, the 10-22 makes my 17-40 feel redundant! :o

10-22 gives u a much better wider view than the 17-40mm. =)

Going to Thailand next month - Ayuthuya and Bangkok. Anyone knows where is good to shoot there ?

i'm gg Ayuthya too!!!

i guess i will prob bring a flash to thailand, but depending on my plan for the day, i may or may not bring it out.

Eg: musuem not bringing since some disallow flash.
Going for some street festival or dinner at somewhere nice.....bringing flash.

I used to travel with my 40D using 17-40 and 70-200 f4L. Now if I travel for photography and want good images I travel with 5D, 24-105L, 100-400L and 50mm f1.4. I have the 70-200L f2.8 IS but it does not have the versatility of the 100-400L (which is why I believe its a better combo than a 24-70L and 70-200L f2.8 which is going to be heavy to carry around).

If for business or not sure of photo opps then 5D with 24-105 and a 50mm f1.4. No white lenses or battery packs when behaving like tourist. It says "MUG ME".

I usually travel around with my 17-40mmF4 and the 135mmF2. Sometimes will put the little 50mmF1.4 in the bag as well. :)

My 100mm macro and 300mm F4 are for specific outings. :)

just came back from japan trip last month. i brought a 16-35, 24-105, 135 and 8mm.

the interesting thing that happened was my 24-105 failed in the cold temperatures of the mountains. Lucky I got my 16-35 with me, or I'd be super pissed + no photos.

Moral of the story is bring a backup. You already spent money going there. come back without taking photos will make u pissed.

Going to hanoi this weekend, currently have the kit 18-55mm, 50mm F1.8 and 55-250mm.

Thinking of getting the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM for indoor/archi shots.

Or should i get the EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM (for walkabout purpose) and leave the 18-55mm behind?

a 10-22mm would be used most of the time for scenary shots. bring the 18-55mm for general purpose. leave the 28-105mm.
