coming 23 travel to sdy but i wish to get a wide angle lens eh ? HOW ?
18-50 F/2.8 is that good enough ? 50mm F1.8 might not really useful.

I would bring Canon 17-55mm f2.8 and Canon 10-22mm. I don't own them tho.

10-22
17-55
70-200
580ex

A bit too much for travelling?

I will be carrying nearly the same thing for an upcoming trip... except for the 580 flash. :bsmilie:

PS: My copy of 70-200 is an f/4 IS, NOT the f/2.8 version, so this makes it lighter.

For travels, I'll bring a 18 - 200mm and a 50mm prime. I'm currently in India with the 18 - 200mm for work so didn't think of bringing the 50mm.

just kiasu a bit........haha :bsmilie: better to have more than not enough.

10-22: widely used for landscape & building interiors

17-55: the walkabout lens that allows low light photography handheld

70-200: for portraits closeup facial expressions

580ex: to bring out the natural colours/exposure on indoor shots

in fact i also bring my laptop to sort/backup my photos, tripod, filters, cable release, spare CF cards, spare batteries, charger, lens cleaner, bag rain cover, and most importantly..... TRAVEL INSURANCE to insure the equipments. :)

As for me, just 17-55 f2.8 and 70-200 f4 IS will suffice. Like to go lightweight.

as for me it's 24-105 attached to the body and bring 18-50 for wide angle and 50 mm for fast lens... (hmmm, that's all the lens I have :bsmilie:)

That's very comprehensive equipment...

instead of labtop, i would bring more p5000 instead.. lighter, or even look for cd burner kiosk to back up files.. and back to the topic, lightest set up for me would a cam with 24-105mm or 24-70mm.. i dun mind going with just 35mm f/1.4, can shoot low light scenes and full body portraits..

17-55 and 70-200 was all i carry in the past, until i met 10-22 and 580exII :sweatsm:

the 10-22 is damm cool..... esp indoor shot where space is a constrain.....

yup... very convenient to shoot in tight situations..

and when u visit tourist attractions overseas, u often see lots of tourist swamping around the subject for a photo. with the Ultra wide 10-22, u can stand right in front of all of them and yet get the subject in the frame. hahaha.....

Intend to bring these for a ten day trip and calculated total weight to be 6.00 kg, think it's too much ?

1) EF-S 10-22 f3.5-4.5
2) EF-S 17-55 f 2.8
3) EF 24-105 f4/L
4) EF 85 f1.8
5) EF 100-400 f4.4-5.6 or EF70-300f4.5-5.6 DO IS USM
6) 400D
7) 40D
8) Epson P2000
9) 430 EX
10) EF-S 60

Anyone tried carrying a 6 kg weight in a 1O days tour ? Did a search, closest was a thread in 2002 but no mention of weight. Maybe start training by carrying a pack of 5 kg bag of rice.

you havent factor in spares battery, chargers etc. I brought my 1D, 20D, 17-40, 70-200, 50 1.8 to China in 2006 and my bag weighted 8kg after i factored in the chargers and batteries :bsmilie:

Most likely I will leave chargers in hotel or coach, I only need to carry items that I need to take photograph. Looking at the items you mentioned, it will not be that heavy if we consider only the cameras and lenses. Can advise which bag you used ? I am quite sure Lowepro Stealth reporter type would not be useful as ergonomically it's not helpful and cause aches after one day shoot with just 2 cameras, 2 lenses and one external flash.

i would bring out a zoom lens and a prime lens should i want to shoot @ night or low light situations.. i would leave out flash, since this is a travelling trip.. i would rather shoot in ambient lighting. =)

I am hoping to be bringing this on my trip to burma.

EFS- 10-22
EF- 24-105 (no $$...temp sub with 17-85)
580 EX
40D

Weight is not a problem. But finding a right back to put these and my travel necessities is a problem.
