picassa and facebook.

i always keep originals in dvd and that is the safest place to store.

A few of my friends lost their whole collection of pictures because they can no longer read the DVDs after a year or two.

I host on my personal website using Menalto :) It's a bit of a hassle setting up the entire thing...
But I also host some on other sites such as flickr.

Regarding DVDs, I was also worried that DVDs might degrade despite hearing that they'll last for many years, so to be safe, I keep another copy on an external HDD.

I'm using Flickr and Exhibit Engine

flickr pro and my host my flash gallery.

stopped using photobucket after they imposed a bandwidth thing on my account

Smugmug is best recommended. USD39.95 per year is reasonable for the quality they provide.
I know Flickr is very popular but the layout and photo display size are not as good as Smugmug.

deviantart.. simply love it.. got a lot of inspiration (not only photography) from there

are you ok with the small image size (small like a thumbnail) in Flickr Pro?

what do you mean? You can always click it and view in larger size. I'm definately ok with the image size. :)

hmm...due to scratches or fungi?

i have had mine for 5 years and still no problem.

Do you know which host that will not compress the image ?

Or all of free host compress the image ?

I mean when u look at the individual picture in the general page before going into full screen or slide show mode. Only Smugmug and Zenfolio display the Individual photo to the largest size if possible in the general page, whereas Flickr displays it in small/medium size which leaves a lot of space in the screen. The photo is enlarged again to fit the whole monitor screen when u view the photo in full screen or slideshow mode.
They will not compress your photos. You can retrieve back the photos in original size and condition.

I use to have a Flickr pro account but had problems logging into my account, the customer service wasn’t very good and could only communicate via email which for a paid service seems poor. Was never able to resolve the issue. A few months after my pro account expired then I was able to log in etc. I figured it must have been a problem on their backend but having no way to contact anyone – it was money down the drain.

Anyway switched to SmugMug and am happy with it but yes agree with a comment posted – Flickr is great for the community features and sharing.

I use Flickr Pro. Previously used Photobucket. But Flickr is far better than the latter.
