I have learnt sth new too ... it's lonely at the TOP ....but it is good to hear from us to know how the organisation is performing :bsmilie:

You wrote more than once that they dropped your lens.
So it seems you somehow are certain it was Canon staff and not the courier.
Not sure if you have irrebuttable proof of that.

You also wrote that the 1st round, you found fingerprints on your lens elements.

Got to understand Canon's point of view too. I believe most of them are good, trustworthy and professional. If someone says Canon dropped their lens, they need proof to justify compensating in money terms or in kind by parts replacement or free servicing.

Looks like you got redress already.

Congrats on getting your new lens! Just read that Canon responded very wonderfully. I think they got the right spirit and they will keep their customers this way.

If you can get redress by a conversation with Canon manager, then good.

I really think you think too much. Its not a big corporate issue. That'll involve law suite and so on. I believe Canon staff are all trustworthy and professional. But a freak accident happened in their hand, be it the courier or canon's staff's fault, they have to rectify it.

Its not fingerprint, its cleaning marks, thick cleaning marks...

The proof is obvious, the lens cap...

I'm glad Canon admitted their mishandling and agree for replacement. Because I've been using their product for so long. Don't want to stop using them.

i think more likely its the courier. my wife had a bad experience with a very well know courier company. she ordered a box of health drink which come in plastic bottles. when the good arrived i was surprised to see the box in a large plastic bag. i was shocked to find that 2 of the plastic bottles broke and the contents had leaked out. good thing the company she ordered from willingly replaced the broken bottles.

yeah that would be best if its convenient to go to harbourfront. next best would be to have them courier (ahem) to canon @ funan and pick it up from there ;p

I paid for 2 new element, $103 and $244! Not small amount man, could have add it into my "5D" pool. Still a long way....
