I hope so too, haha.. :bsmilie:

But still probably quite out of reach for some serious ametures/hobbyists who wants a good FF camera.
Good things often comes with a price. No choice.. Right?..

Maybe that explains the lower pixel count compared to D800/E?

i know for a fact that the camera was available more than 4-6 months back. i don't know what took them so long but an economic guess would be to milk the 5dm2 as much as possible since it still is the best camera in terms of picture quality for dslr.

personally i feel the pixel count is not an issue. if you have a good sensor you could possibly up size the 22mp to 36mp and beat the d800. its not about pixel count. i would prefer it to stay 22mp this way since working with a 22mp file would be more convenient that 36mp. don't need to upgrade your CF and harddisk also.

but weather the picture quality, sensor, iso performance could match our expectation that is still a big question mark. especially with a USD$3500 price tag...

From what you say it looks like Canon is just waiting for the D800 to be announced. And quickly launching it just before the D800 hit the streets. They could have waited another 6 months if Nikon did not move. Nikon has caught Canon a little off guard with its 36MP. Canon is beaten here but probably not for long.

yap. hence soon after D800 announcement, a new rumour that the 5d could split into 2 different camera one coming LATER in the year. with the 36 mp it does sound impressive (guess work on this part). but we really need to A/B the pictures taken to come to a conclusion if it is really that impressive.

If grey set is so ex... Imagine the street price....

Haiz I guess I will stuck with my 5D2 till the price is more hobbyist pricing.....

The higher the price, the better. At least we will be able to pick up a mkIII easily. :D

Is mkii or mkiii? More ex better.... .????

the pricing on the bodies easily separates the professionals from amateurs/hobbyists..

Not enticed by the new mk3.

By professionals vs amateurs, u referring to camera bodies or users/owners ?

Eh, I think quite a few amateurs and hobbyists out there have very deep pockets leh!

You don't have to be a rally racer to own cars like WRX STI or EVO 10 right? Likewise for camera bodies. Nothing wrong for amateurs and hobbyists to own 5D or 1D series bodies. If you are a professional and you feel "ashamed" that you own same gear as non - pro then

1) There are better things to think about, like how to improve in your own skills, just ignore them.
2) Own MORE EXPENSIVE gear than them, if that helps you feel that you are one level above.

I really like the above comment. Even I can really afford the price but yet still struggling to master the mkii. Point is, not the stove that making great food, it's the chef itself!

Does anyone honestly believe their photography will suddenly improve going from a 5D2 to a 5D3 ?

Well it should definitely be able to aid one in producing better pictures. That is after all, the point of announcing an upgrade from the mark ii yeah?

Yup, a better camera definitely helps to shoot better photos with regards to the technical aspects. Nothing wrong with buying good tools!

Unlike most here, I am more interested in knowing the price in Malaysia. If I were to buy, it will most likely be there. Many of their Canon prices are on par or below US pricing. Their 5DMII have been selling at about $2800-2900 for a long long time when it cost more than $3100 here.

hmm..i think what u said is not very appropriate?..
Professionals dosent mean must use big/latest cameras...likewise amateurs/hobbyists dosent mean they wont be entice or interested in the new camera..infact some will even just buy because they think (the more ex..the more new it is..the better it is).

in the end it all boils down to whether 1 is willing to pay or have the ability to pay.. nothing to do with being pro or not..
