Where you get that number? When I click SG customer, doesn't show any pre-order for 5D3 only the Nikon D800
But when click overseas customer, it shows the pre-order in AUD, which is $5k plus after currency conversion.

erh, my guess is that it will be sold ard 4500 SGD here

Why does it takes Canon so long to determine the price here? Same with Nikon, it takes ages... :(

Does anyone honestly believe their photography will suddenly improve going from a 5D2 to a 5D3 ?

The skill might not improve suddenly. But the 5D3 is a better tool than the 5D2 which can produce better photos? E.g better AF means less likelihood of OOF shots, esp on Al-Servo mode, better sensor means higher IQ, etc.

Rhetoric question... I guess it's a want vs a need for most of us hobbyists.

i believe it is no so much about photography improvement but rather with they will face with less constraint, less hassel, less chance of losing critical moment pic capture in where you want and less post shooting developing/correction work.

I think I'd rather have more glass than a newer model. I've never had a problem with the AF on my 5DMKII's

it really depends on what subject you are shooting, some really demand on AF, it is either hit or miss and 1 off opportunity. for lenses, i now believe in keeping inventory to the min and usage to the max so that we can justify buying the best & expensive lens for our hobby.

Makes sense if the AF works fine for you. It's still a good camera. Dunno abt you, but i like more choice. The 5D3 will soon be a real option on the table. Just because it's available doesn't mean anyone has to buy it. Don't need/want, don't buy lor!

I guess the most gainers will be those who go from crop to FF rather than those who go from Mk2 to Mk3...

With so many AF pts, would anyone (after buying) still play with the AF pts while composing? I mean as in not moving the aim but just moving the AF pts?
