When will Nikon introduce an entry level FX

Entry level FX should be priced at $1,000. :bsmilie:

Anyways, if you have 3 grades of product, Good, Better and Best (according to your consumers), even if Good costs $300, Better costs $400, Best costs $500...

Do you think you will price Good at $400, Better at $500, Best at $600?

Nahhhhhhhh... You'd squeeze them consumers for all it's worth. If Good is priced at $500, companies will probably price Better at $800 and Best at $3,000. That's natural. :bsmilie:

spot on. they can't give u everything for entry level price. otherwise how to launch d600s, or d5200? but anyway for the average consumer, we don't need many of the features anyway, it's the Nikon that brainwashes us via fancy marketing and advertising that we need these features :)

Nah, eventually MF will be the new FX.

Technology is technology. It tends to move.

I'm looking forward to this day!!!

Pentax came up with a revolutionary offering 645D ie entry level digital MF, but sadly didn't inspire the rest of the industry to catch on.

Luckily Nikon have some really good and cheap primes. Same cant be said for zooms though.

yes, quite happy with the 50 & 85 primes :)

24-85 is quite decent though.

you mean cheap FX camera, the D600 is the current entry level FX camera
over time when the price of making FX sensors go down the cost of the FX camera will go down as well
but at that time your expectations will change

Take a D600; street price ~$2800
Less 100% viewfinder : -$50
Less resolution LCD : -$150
Slower processor (eg. using D7K one, but will be slower due to 24mp processing) : -$150
Poorer AF module : -$150
Less buttons (save on mechanical/reliability/stock costs) : -$100
Bare bones firmware to save development costs (ie. basically shoot RAW and PP elsewhere) : -$150

Thats still a $2050 camera.
Lets say Nikon is generous and lower the price to get more ppl to buy. (-$150)
So can you accept this sort of $1900 camera?

D600 is already very good for the price at this point of time.
Maybe in the future, FF is really going to be $1800, but that time maybe police from wear bemudas already change to wear spandex :D :D

You mean new for $2.2K?
Can you share the shop? thx  ...

Entry level FX for cheap?

Nikon F100 - $350
Epson V700 - $800
Total: $1150

That's under $1200 for a semi-pro setup. Hey, you didn't say it had to be a DSLR...

entry level FX camera is not equal to cheap FX camera

if D4 sells at $1500 with all its specs, is it going to be considered an entry level FX camera?

A FX camera that cost less than $2,000 :bsmilie:

Must be lah.. lol..

If thats the case. (probably..since TS liked the post)
Wait lo..how long we dontknow. Sure it will be less than $2000. By then..im quite sure u will be unhappy again. :bsmilie:

I would love a $500 200mm f/2!

what's wrong with that?

some of the lenses, once you own it, you won't want to let it go, probably use it until it rotten, than buy back the same lens again and again.

I agree with you. :)

For my AF 180mm f2.8D also follow me many years already, unless I'll give up Nikon.

When my first D100 costs $3.6K, D600 is considered an entry level FX to me.

Men WANTS can never be satisfied.

That is why there are always business opportunities,

if the company can come up with the 'right' product at the 'right' price at the 'right' time.

(just like Apple did with their iPhone)
