Nice pics. I'm also thinking of getting this lens at ms color. Do you know until what time the shop open?

there's a shop in funan (song bros) selling it for 185+gst=$198 :)

that was over a week ago

not sure?
n u hv so much to say.

prime not portraiture?
wow!
all those medium format guys must be laughing.

2 cents worth,
pretty ex.

Well, we're talking about DSLR.
MF is different. Prime for MF, sharpness is needed.
MF usually use 6x7 format for portraiture. Usually for advertising purpose.
And it is Slow speed and ex. And a perfect lightings needed. And some were heavy too. So model need to stand on fix location and photographer got to fix the distance too between the photographer and model. Changing of lenses in the middle of shoot too. They dont mind this as they get paid for all those troubles.

Talking about normal studio DSLR full frame or crop user, 70-200 f2.8 is good enough for sharpness and you can adjust the zoom according to the crop that you want. Rather than you move forward and backward if you need to get the require crop images of your model.

Maybe different users have different ways of taking portraitures.:) No right or wrong.

cheers:D

Ask for e-quote before heading to MS Color, you can save a few dollars.

;)

I bought the 50mm 1.8 at Cathay for 199. Song bro didn't want to give with less than 210 when I went there first and asked. MS Color is too far for me.
Anyway here r some test shots

AH! Even CP is selling at that price. Now its super tempting to not have to travel all the way to AMK to get that lens.. hehe.:bsmilie:

but does the CP 50mm comes with free UV filter(be it any brand) mine did and its still at that price... infact all lens that i got from MS always comes with a free uv filter;p..

lol... i rather spend abit more for a better UV filter than those cheap glass that usually come free. then again, for the 50mm f1.8, getting a filter would be making the recessed glass elements of the lens useless. you are just going to introduce more flare.

I've just bought this lens today. Very satisfied with the lens on my A350.

Yes, I agree, those El Cheapo UV filters are next to useless I took a heap of shots of a very lovely sunset and nearly every shot had an extra sun.

HAHAHAHA...i definitely agree with you about the lens flare... flare is a bit of a problem with the filters on the DT50mm..

yarlor cheapo uv filter cannot compare with those hig-end one lah but its better than nothing never know when u need it. better then nothing bah, i take it anyway, always comes in handy for diy stuff or photography experiments

cheers

I was a along tot SONY lens with "DT" is meant for DSLR...
hence no need to x1.5 the focal length...?
by the way focal length at 75MM is... not here not there also... IMHO.

its just that there is no hood for the 50mmDT, so your filter is just going to become a xtra glass for more flare.

the hood is built in

no bro. the recessed lens element of the DT50mm is the one that is acting as the hood. technically there is no hood. not even a pull out hood like the minolta 50mm F1.7.

ya, I guess the 50 F1.8 has no hood, not like M 50 1.7

hi guys,

anyone can post more pictures using this lens?

Thanks
