Do update us on the price. I'm intersted to know

The 135mm f2 and 200mm f2.8L offer the best image quality, but the 70-200 f/2.8L IS is more useful in situations like u said where u cannot "zoom" with your feet, it is really up to what you want to shoot and in what circumstances, if you feel u will have more freedom to move around choose the primes, but if you need versatility and convenience factor, go with the zoom. YMMV.

Thankyou for the advice Garion!

Bodies:
EOS 350D + EOS 50 + EOS 55
Lens:
EFS 18-55 f3.5-5.6 II
EF 24-85 f3.5-4.5 USM
Sigma 28 f1.8 Aspherical
EF 35 f2
EF 50 f1.8 II
EF 85 f1.8 USM
Sigma 105 f2.8 EX Macro
EF 80-200 f4.5-5.6
EF 75-300 f4-5.6 III
Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 APO Macro
Flash:
380EX + 420EX

Number of L Lens = 0

Eyeing on these recently:

1) EF 17-85 IS : like the IS feature but really hope it can open beyond f4.. and would be happier if it's lighter and more compact..

2) 135 f2L: drooling seriously for it's sharpness, bokeh and relatively affordable price comparing with other L lens. Downside is I shoot indoor quite often and the focal length is a bit too long for indoor shooting.. and it probably need a tripod to bring out the best of this baby..

3) Sigma 70-200 f2.8 HSM EX DG or Canon EF 70-200 f4L. Like the sigma for the f2.8 max aperture & the Canon for it's compactness. But not sure how often I'll have the chances to use these..

4) A good, portable, lightweight yet steady tripod. A Carbon fibre Gitzo shd be good but it's really $$$.. feel a bit heartache

it's $1350 with gst.

Bodies:
EOS 66, EOS 350D
Lens:
EF 28-80 3.5-5.6 II
EF-S 17-55 3.5-5.6 II
EF 50 1.8 II

thats it

would like to have:
EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5 USM
Tamron 90 2.8 di Macro
EF 50 1.4
EF 70-200 2.8L IS USM

someday when I earn enough to afford these. :)

Don't worry, it's the man behind the camera. We've seen great shots from 300Ds/350Ds before...not to mention megaweb's PnS

The 50 f1.8 II is a very good lens in term of optical quality, u r not handicapped in anyway just because it's cheap, cheer up pal!! :D

A poor picture taken by a 1Ds mkII with a sharpest L lens will still be a poor pic, main diff is that it's one that takes up 16.8 megapixels of storage space and magnify the flaws...hahaa

Sharpening of phototaking skill and the eye for good pictures is much more important than getting the sharpest lens and highest res cam available, at least at my level it still is..

Marvel not at the set-up of others, for those can easily be purchased and replicated.

It's probably easier to be able to afford good equipment than to pick up the skill to be able to make good use of them.

Looking for great deal on :
85mm 1:1.2 L
200mm 1:1.8 L
300mm 1:2.8 L IS

If I have 5D:
24-70mm 1:2.8 L

If the rumours are true:
200mm 1:1.8 IS L
300mm 1:2 IS L

If its true, the 300mm f/2 IS is gonna be one heck of a lens. Put extenders, you can have 420mm f/2.8 or 600mm f/4. Nikon has a MF 300mm f/2, and the size (and price) is  Very expensive too.

The only difference is that when used on a D2x, the 300 f/2 lens will automatically become a 600 f/2 lens. ;p

wow.....600mm f2...

Currently, got the following:
20D
EFS 18-55mm (kit lens)
EF 50mm f/1.8 II
EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM

Saving for the next lens
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM

My list is the shortest because I only have access to a single lens now :bsmilie:

350D
Canon 50mm f1.4 USM

Seriously considering:
Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro
100-400L

The 50mm/f1.4 is a very good piece of lens, love mine.

Ok I have the same lens so obviously I have to agree :bsmilie:

But seriously, the bokeh is simply amazing. Obviously there are other lenses such as the 135L or 85L that will turn out better bokeh but the 50mm is much more suited as a general walkaround lens.

It's not just the bokeh. It's the colours and sharpness as well ;)

Just got these 2 from Cathay today...:)

1. 24-70mm/f2.8L
2. 135mm/f2.0L
