Excellent choice of excellent lenses. Two of my favorites.

Hope to see some pictures from your copy soon!

Cheers,

Guess now my arsenal is more or less complete, ranging from short to long range, will be trying them soon for an event I am covering next Sat.

Just told Steven and Kelvin from CP that they will not be seeing me for some time, unless I want to get that new Canon cam which is rumored to be coming...hehehe..

My Arsenal:

1. 50mm/f1.4
2. 17-40mm/f4L
3. 70-300mm/f4.5-5.6 DO IS
4. 24-70mm/f2.8L
5. 135mm/f2.0L

Going to skip the 85mm/f1.2L.

Congratz on your new purchases, will have cost you close to S$4k including the filters.
I have gotten myself a Canon EFS 10-22mm too from Cathay photos.

I used to have the 24-70L and sold it away as it was damn heavy. I usually take portraits and use 50mm focal length often so I got rid of the L lens.

I have the 135mm too and the bokeh is supercool. Prob is I have to walk a little way back if I wanted a half bod pic.

My list is the shortest because I only have access to a single lens now :bsmilie:

350D
Canon 50mm f1.4 USM

Seriously considering:
Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro
100-400L

Going to scratch that Sigma 150mm macro lens from my list. Tried it out today on my 350D at MS Color.

The lens is well balanced, excellent finish, controls are at the right places, silent HSM focusing, bokeh is nice, and the lens takes pictures with that signature neutral grey color Sigma lenses seem to have. The sample I tried probably need rechipping since it would not AF in the macro range after a while. Playing around with the focus limiter resets the problem but after a while the inability to focus comes back. And contrary to popular belief, you CAN use autofocus with a macro lens, and it seems pretty accurate too.

But funky AF is not why I didn't buy the Sigma. I paid for a Sony Cybershot T5 instead :bsmilie:

The T5 has a 1:3.5 super macro mode vs the 1:1 telemacro of the Sigma. The loss of telemacro in exchange for super macro seems a nice tradeoff since the camera will not be used to take pictures of bugs. Also tried a Canon S2 IS but the Sony T5's super macro mode was much easier to get good results with. The 30fps VGA movie mode and super compact form factor of the T5 is an added plus.

So with macro (and short movies) taken care of, I can resume my search for my long lens. I'm having problems deciding between the 100-400L and Sigma 100-300 f4 + 1.4x TC again.

Need to find a shop that stocks the 100-300 f4 and give this underrated lens a run through :)

i just bought another 1D, so now i have two EOS 1D. it is the perfect set-up for lazy people who dont like to change lens.

after i sell the 20-35L i plan to get the EF 24-85 and add the 400/5.6L and the 75-300IS for occassional tele shots

the complete set-up will look like this:

EOS 1D x 02
EF 24-85
EF 70-200/2.8L nonIS
EF 75-300IS
EF 400/5.6L
speedlight 420EX
bag/accessories/etc

1D x 02!?! Super battery drainers manx...;p

Hmmm...70-200 and 75-300, don't they overlap?

one for serious use, one for casual use

would have considered the 85mm/f1.2L if not for the "bad" reviews and high price....which is why, i went for the 135mm instead...

hoping that there is really a 5D which will make me consider having my 20D as backup instead...then again, need more regular photo assignments before I take the plunge again....damn broke now..
