I heard the new BMW 530i if ur right leg is like a leaf, the FC will be very good
yar... i book it during the $8118 cat A coe period. that is why 1 weekend to test drive, the 2nd weekend to book.
my loan is about 40k, 7 years.
actually i prefer stationwagon. tons of bootspace. but the most affordable wagon is the chevy optra estate which my wife do not like. the rest of the wagon is out of range.
u have a kid now, must remember that there may be more to come. make sure that the car can fit it another one, also must consider a maid later on also. all these are prespective from a family man.
yar... different dealer got different offer, make sure you ask what they going to offer.
btw, how old are you? also it good if you wife can drive also. if she can't make sure she go and learn.
Wah... good for you! 8k COE!! I failed my first test then, so couldn't take advantage of that. ;p
I can't think I would like to think about another kid right now.. ;p I think maid is a nono for me.. I've heard horror stories. Hehehe.. Wagon is also out for me because my wife only wants a sedan (got backside). ;p
I was thinking of a 30k 5yr loan because I don't want to pay the bank so much money.. But looking at the down payment..:bigeyes:
but having a second kid 2 to 3 years down the road is very realistic. so need to consider that carefully. unless u intend to change car 2 to 3 years down the road. as for the maid, if you have a 2nd kid, there is practically no choice if the couple are working.
pay lesser loan will have more cash on hand for emergency purpose. you do your own maths.
so have u test drive any cars over the weekend?
I think after some $$$ consideration, I have decided to stay public for the time being until the need for a car is stronger. Thanks for all the contributions especially the parts on the finances.![]()

To able to drive around and spend minimum, you can consider a small car like
- Hyundai Getz 1.0
- Kia Picanto
- Kia Rio 1.4L
- Cherry QQ
which cost <$43k
Good for point to point transport with low maintenance. Easy to park the car too.
Why no one recommend using a diesel van? Now can put seats in the back and take out the steel bulkhead. Plus average consumption is about 18km/l in city driving. Cheaper capital investment and with so many cars on the road, 70kmh speed limit isn't too bad. Definitely cheaper running cost to get around.
Should be no problem for smaller pram but will occupy the whole boot.Did consider those also.. But other than Rio, I think it's hard to get the baby pram into the rest. ;p

Does it need to be registered under a company name?

I find driving a small car is useful than a van as speed limit is cap to the road limit and not vehicle. After driving for sometimes, 70km/h is kind of slow.
Yes, but that's simple enough. Choose a business name, register at ACRA. $20/per annum. Quite a number of people I know use it as a form of daily transport. Cheap point to point travel and you can carry big stuff like a muddy mountain bike or cupboards from IKEA pretty easy.
But you'll need a non HDB address to register right?
You can now register a business with a HDB address, subject to the type of business. They relaxed the rule a few years back to allow more people to start their own business. Do a search for more details.
