Nope, the Legacy GT is a low/midrange Grand Tourer aimed to compete against the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

Mid range cars are middle range in price and usually family saloons etc

i thought owning a BMW/merc is considered a luxury vehicle..until i came to the UK and found out that more than half of the cars i see on the streets are BMWs/Mercs, and i see a M3/CLK/SLK every other day...:bsmilie:

In Singapore, that is a luxury because of the extraordinary high cost of owning these 'ordinary' cars from Europe. The economy of Government-generated luxury...

I dun think owning a Benz/BMW is a luxury in SIngapore anymore. Take a look outside your window now, chances are you will find a BMW or Merc passing by....

BMW 3 & 5 are more luxury European than mid range. Saab, Volvo, Alfa are more mid range European. Maybe should add 1 more category "Super Cars"....GTR, Lambo, Ferrari, Konigsegg.

BMW 3 and 5 are mid range cars, end of story. A 3 series is nothing to write home about nor is a 5 series. A 3 series in most countries is a junior exec vehicle at best. A 7 series is a luxury class car.

Supercars are covered under sports cars European.

Yes. And (sigh...) the disproportionate amount of angst these people go through simply to service their car loan.

my 2 cents - the question is can you afford to maintain a 3 series? it is not about owning one. i am sure many can fork out $130,000 to buy a new one. but can you afford to maintain one? insurance premium is $3,000 a year. petrol consumption is 9km per litre for a 318i. annual road tax is $1,600. servicing at PML is $400-$500 every quarter. and if you bang your car bonnet and radiator, it will take a month and cost you $35,000 to fix it.

OK, difference in opinion. Maybe in AU BMW 3 & 5 are mid range. However, in Singapore they cost from S$130K-330k (318i to M3) & $170k-450k (520 & M5)...definitely premium. An average BMW 520 costs double that of a Toyota Camry.

If Audi is luxury european, how can BMW be mid range when a BMW here costs more than Audi, new or preowned? Maybe different market, different positioning.

Does this also mean the E-Class is mid-range since BMW 5 is mid-range?
