Haha, i still have to break the news to my parents. Haha..Wonder what lectures i'd get....

They'd say i have my canon, my sony pns, why i need so many? Plus all the old SLRs. :(

Straight flash is always harsh. I hate it when i use my PNS and the flash shoots, because i forgot to turn it off.

But flash is useful when there's a bright light behind your subject.

yes, onboard is useful it for fill flash! :)

You never know. It might be suddenly out next week and everyone will rush to buy.

Let me see if i can pull some strings to get 1/2 sets in. Haha...:)

So if you had flipped the other side of a negative roll, would it be "positive" then? :bsmilie:

And if he was eating goreng pisang and the roll slipped from his hands, it would have been a "color slide"... :sticktong

Haha, yeah... what if it was doughnuts? Will it give a "Pin hole" effect? Haha..:bsmilie:

simi doughnut :nono: simi goreng pisang :nono:

It's useful, but not so much. Direct Fill flash can also ruin pictures. Never liked using direct flash for these reasons.

1.) Too harsh

2.) You can see the flash reflection in the eyes of your subject.

3.) Subjects tend to move more when flash is used.

Tell them every camera fulfills a specific area of need.

And we guys here know it's already in their warehouse ...

If urgently needed, can buy from USA, already in stock. Only slightly more expensive including priority shipping and gst. Sometimes, usage is more important than cost. Like Cathay Photo's customers offering to pay more than retail price for the Leica M9 just to get it :).

USA guys better at marketing I guess. What launch ? Sell now to those who know, launch later to those who don't know :bsmilie:.

Chose GF-1 because:

1) lesser lens range to tempt myself with (not counting other mounts with adaptor). more is not necessary better, especially for the wallet :bsmilie:
2) dedicated button for recording video
3) more friendly UI
4) my gf hates Oly cameras :dunno:

Wow, one tough GF. :)

ISO800, close range. Makes sense. But wouldn't that light be harsh? Just curious. I cannot imagine direct flash not being harsh. But it has its use too. I use a snoot on my flash for that purpose.

When a normal flash with GN50 is used, definitely harsh. But the GF1 has a GN of 6 only. Underpowered and perfect for fill when set to S.

But I wouldn't use it for group photos as it's too weak.

I have shot sharp pictures handheld with my film cameras even at 1/15 speeds on 50mm, no IS, mirror locked up, and properly propped up. Very slow and lots of hit and miss. I often want large prints (A3 or larger), so image must be tack sharp. This little flash, with no extra weight or bulk, can sometimes make that little difference.

Errm, wouldn't a GF be more valuable than a camera?
Not to me... I can live without a GF but not without my dignity if I let someone else dictate to me what camera I can buy or cannot buy.

Maybe she just suggest, but you can always buy it. It's your money.
