What lenses you own?

DA*16-50/2.8
DA*50-135/2.8
DA 55-300/4-5.8
covers the most useful FLs.

My skill level is not high enough that I can utilize primes properly, so I'll stick to zooms for now..more bang for buck (unless someone wants to generously donate to me, a FA77 or FA31:bsmilie: )

Your choice is very logical. 16-300mm in coverage. I dare say its as much as is needed for most stuff.

my stuff:

1) sigma 10-20
2) pentax kit lens II
3) pentax 50mm f/1.4
4) pentax 35-80
5) tamron 70-300
6) tokina 28mm (some old manual lens)

that's it, i think

What happened to that fisheye of yours?

1) Pentax DA 18-55mm I f/3.5-f5.6
2) Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4-f5.6
3) Pentax Fa 43mm f/1.9 Limited
4) Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6
5) Pentax D-FA 100mm f/2.8 MACRO
6) Pentax Fa 77mm f/1.8 Limited

1) Pentax DA 18-55mm I f/3.5-f5.6
2) Pentax DA 50-200mm f/4-f5.6
3) Pentax Fa 43mm f/1.9 Limited
4) Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6
5) Pentax D-FA 100mm f/2.8 MACRO
6) Pentax Fa 77mm f/1.8 Limited

I am impresss  I realized thought the Pentax community is small compare to C or N but the folks here are open and friendly bunch, and really serious photographers by look at the amount of prime lenses you guys owned

small is cosy, small is tight. i enjoy the "kampung spirit" in our small community, and i guess there's an element of "self-selection", since not everyone naturally gravitates to the pentax brand

I like the friendly "kampung spirit" here too ;)

Sound like there are quite a few old timers here as well.

1. Sigma 10-20
2. Pentax DA* 16-50 f/2.8
3. Pentax 50mm f/1.4
4. Pentax 50-200
5. Pentax DFA 100 macro f/2.8
6. Sigma 100-300 f/4

4 of them were bought 2nd hand thanks to clubsnap :)

I am too tempted to list my collection. Recalling how I acquired each of them is quite interesting to myself. It looks like a very "wow" collection but probably they are not in the best hands. Nevertheless they are all my precious babies. Here's my list in chronological order:

Sigma17-70 - My very first "kit lens" that came with my k10d
DA40 - The very reason why i was bent on getting Pentax. It's really the coolest lens I had ever seen.
FA50 - I wanted to try f1.4 badly and its touted as the best 50 across all brands!
M28, M135 - Gotten both from Fengwei to try out manual lenses. It's a shame I hadnt used them much but they'll always be part of my collection.
DA21 - Quite an impulse buy.
DA70 - There is no stopping once you had acquired two out of the three Limited Pancake trio.
DA35 - My collection was really lacking in close focusing ability. My most utilised lens.
FA77 - I wanted very badly to try out the FA77 magic. Can partly "blame" flowerpot for this.
FA31(black and silver), FA43 - Somehow there was a point of time I felt rich. Sadly, not any more now.
DA15 - I was bent on completing the DA Limited series.
DA10-17fe - A very fun lens I can't resist.

So is there anyway I can quit being a Pentaxian? What's my next lens? Probably the DA16-50 is I were ever to succumb to the DA* poison.

Realise I didn't answer the thread title in my previous response...

These are what I would normally use:
DA*16-50
DA*50-135
DA10-17 fisheye

These are more specific in their uses:
Sigma 30/1.4 (usually for indoor or other low light situations)
Tamron 90/2.8 macro (er... macro)

And I don't really use these much
M 50/2
Vivitar 28/2.8 (for the occasional revers macro)

Speechless with envy. :o

You've the entire set of DA and FA Limiteds!

think you got the 16-50 range covered quite well.. why not get the DA* 50-135 instead?

My current lenses are in my signature! :)

DA21mm
DA40mm
DA70mm

As I don't really need macro, I think I have it pretty well covered : 21mm for wide (on my camera most of the time), 40mm for that extra omph (my favourite lens), 70mm for really nice portraits. Most would recommend the FA77mm, but the 70mm is good enough for me and I like the compact size too (plus its cheaper ;p).

For that special something, the FA50 f/1.4 and M50f/1.7...

For zoom I have the 18-250 lens which is mostly used for when I am on holiday and want to bring only 1 lens along.

I also have a Samyang M42 zoom lens but never used it at all. Inherited it from an uncle.
Last to round it off, a Sigma 600mm f/8 Maksutov Cassegrain lens (so far used to take pictures of the moon only!).

scorpio : Looks like I really really need to be your best friend and stay near you! :)

I just started out so I only have these 2 lenses:

1) 18-55 II kit lens
2) Pentax A 50mm F2 - Thanks to Fengwei.

Next lense I am getting: Pentax DA 50-200mm. Will get it 2nd hand, because I don't have $$$. :(

So far, I have only joined the Pentax group outing twice and I must also agree that this Pentax group is a friendly nice bunch of people. Pentaxme, want to join us in the next outing? Should be in August, because its a monthly outing.

I need a quick and good lens for events. If the 1650 is as good as the 50135, I would have gotten it without consideration. The 50135 is one very good lens I somehow cant fit into my current arsenal.

Again really impress with all the arsenal you guys unleashed, and having say that the threat really help remove some guilt of going out to add more lenses to my collection ;)

Coming from Canon camp, the new K-7 gives me the opportunity to start over again in term of lenses choices. So here is my first two lenses:

1. DA 35mm f2.8 macro limited
I like to take macro, and I find the 35mm is a perfect standard walkabout lens for crop body. Love the size and build

2. DA* 16-50mm f2.8
I think this is an essential walkabout lens for my holiday and I really wanted to own a f2.8 for low lighting shot such as the nice stain glass windows or ceiling of old churches or castle ;)

Future:
Next DA*50-135mm f2.8
Good portrait to medium telephoto

I have a Zeiss Planar *T 50mm f1.4 for Canon and I really like the IQ very much. So am consider to get one for my new Pentax, was thinking either a Distagon *T 21mm or 25mm. I know they are not available here, so hopefully I can get an opportunity to go Japan ;) to BBB.

Wow! Some of you got very impressive collections! Scorpioh, you got the two manual lenses from me? Sorry I don't even remember I've met you before :embrass:

Ha. That was slightly more than a year ago. I think you have sold too many lenses so you can't quite recall who am I. Ha.
