What is your next lens?

Oh.... *faints* Can we change thread to "Next Dream Lens"? Haha!

I WANT THAT SILVER Pentax A50 1.2!!!! *faints*

Don't worth it. Use that kind of money you can buy whole set of FA limiteds :)

Don't think I'll be buying anymore lenses for a couple of years. Last lens purchase was a year or two ago(?). (Not counting 645 system)
I don't mind an AF walkabout zoom (17-50, 17-70, 28-75) for occasions where I have to cover events and for convenience sake.

Buy 645D :D

I am quite worried that Ricoh will screw up Pentax, so it is more advisable to upgrade to K5 now?

Usually companies of same trade only buy over similar companies so as to get their technologies..

most users are actually rather happy that Ricoh and Pentax are now one family :) Ricoh is financially stronger and seems a more interested owner than Hoya.

so many not worried about merge you worried? Might as well worried about mayan prophecy this year better hahaha

i think u meant the 55-300?

i'm actually the opposite. i have the DAL55-300 and i'm wondering if i should complete my WR collection with the DA50-200 WR. in case i need a lightweight medium zoom to supplement 16-50 or 18-55 on a trip.

Me too. I have the 55-300 and the 50-200. I got back on Sunday from a trip to India. I took the smaller and lighter 50-200, and I'm VERY glad I did. It's ok as long as you don't try to use it wide open at longer FLs. Glad I did not have to lug the weight of the 55-300 around for 2 wks.

i dunno what u read but thats not really true.

the GXR is truly unique and very fun to use. the A12 28mm module is truly  very sharp.

and many pple are going ga-ga over the A12 M-mount module now  its sold out everywhere last i checked and new ones just fly off the shelves. its the "poor man's leica" ;)

their GRD compact cameras are also highly regarded. some may say overpriced too :bsmilie: but its popular among enthusiasts.

Really, I thought quite a lot of people love their cameras, just that they've remained relatively entwined in the compact market for a while.

Yeah well, but I've seen the A12 M-mount, am none too impressed, but that said, they do make nice cameras.

i was rescued from an impulse buy cos it was out of stock :bsmilie:

but what's your view on the A12 M-mount? i thought its well regarded? sharp, no AA filter, decent focus assist feature (not as good as the nex though).

Mm. Which model?

Rioch's GRD compacts are probably the best, or among the best, compacts around, despite their 'limitations'.. Fixed focal length and all. I have the GRD3 and it sure is better built and just plain more a joy to use than any other compact I've handled. The image quality shines too.

You may want to tell the guys here about it ;)

Anyway, here's a review/comparison done my Steve Huff :
28mm and 50mm modules : The Ricoh GXR Digital Camera Review with the 28mm and 50mm Modules | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS
M-mount module against the NEX7 : Sony NEX-7 with wide angle Leica lenses – A quick test and Ricoh GXR A12 Comparison! | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS

The lens module idea is "odd-ball" in concept, I'd agree with you on that, but it has its fans and is no slouch in OOC colors and performance.

BTW, you asked if a K5 is worth buying with the Ricoh takeover.
Look at it this way.
If you spent ~$1m to get a Ferrari, would you then go take out its engines and replace it with one from a Honda?
Same logic goes for the Ricoh purchase.
K-mount, DSLRs and related patents are all that Pentax has to offer to Ricoh for the purchase. Spend money to close it down?
Only makes sense to buy up and close down competitor if Ricoh is large in the DSLR market, which it isn't.

I just have something against EVF, I guess. It's not that it's horrible but it's just not comparable to a DSLR's OVF.

The peaking thing is so-so for me, maybe it needs getting used to. Anyways, I may be letting my skewed preferences get in the way. :)

It does make sense that Ricoh keep Pentax patents.
Why waste good money reinventing the wheel?
It should pour into making a better cam instead.
