almost became into this family.. BUT cp dont have stock for F6..
their next shipment doesnt have the F6 either.. :sticktong

the sales assistant intro me get the J3x (220+).. fits my requirements for the main compartment but i dont need the side pouches.. is there any practical use to it? :dunno:

went over to orient photo, they have stock in their china store.. but the price is $195.. additional $30 over CP's pricing..

side pocket can put flat water bottle or wallet, spec etc....come in handy actuali...

hmm...F6 is 165...let me check it out come June..

any idea what is the approx price for new J2 or F2 now?

IIRC.. its the same as the J3x.. which is 220+ ;)

I was quoted J3 @S$235.00 (b4 GST) just 2 weeks back. 220+ is a good buy. I find the side pouch very useful.. it can store your lens cap, WB filter, handdisk etc

I went to Orient Photo and was quoted $250 for a J2. Where was the 220+ quote from?

220+ is for J3... (Cathay). J2 is much bigger and is slightly more expensive.. yes. should be around $250

Hey guys

Got two quick questions

1. Where in S'pore can I have a look at Domkes (like the largest selection)? Would it be at CP?
2. What's the official site for Domke products. I can't seem to find any.

calebk:

1. given my limited knowledge.. yes, it will be at CP.. Orient photo carries them too but a couple of quick price comparison reveals that CP has better pricing..
2. http://www.tiffen.com/products.html?tablename=domke this url has the whole domke catalog on it :)

  Thanks dude.

Thinking of joining the Kick-Ass bag club. Hahaha.

Anyone know which bag will fit the following? I'm looking at something stealth 'cause I have a Stealth Reporter D400 and it's not very "stealth". It's very boxy and I don't really like to bring it out when I'm just going casual shooting. Haha.

Couple of bags I've been looking at are the J3 and the F3X. Help/tips/recommendations appreciated
1. 30D body (most of the time with grip, but sometimes without when I want to travel light) with
2. 50mm or 24-85mm lens attached and
3. The other lens in storage (meaning with 24-85 attached, the 50mm will be stored, and vice versa.)
4. 430EX
5. Lightsphere II (folded is fine, preferred if it's assembled so it won't lose its shape)
6. Blower, cloth, lenspen, iPod, some other small bits and pieces.

I use the F3X and I am able to put
a) 30D with grip and 24-105 attached
b) 50mm f1.4
c) 580EX
d) Lightsphere II (no slot for it.. but just put it on top of my 30D)
e) memory card, harddisk etc on the side pockets

This is a little cramp though but can fit.. and I love the F3X cos it is small and compact.. to have more space, get the J3. It is slightly bigger, almost same configuration as F3X and is ballistic nylon.. and the "domke" brand is muted. (However, I like F3X RED color "Domke" brand)

Here is another handy catalogue http://www.tiffen.com/DomkeCatalog.pdf

tell me, which material is easier to maintain? i am not looking about waterproofing.. i am looking at resistance to dust/dirt..

ballistic nylon or canvas?

Ballistic nylon for me. However, still got mold and mildew problem.

So there's still no solution to this? Hm. Both the F-3X and the J-3 are ballistic nylon, right?

J3 is purely ballistic nylon..
meanwhile F3x is available in both materials. :)

both bags are v.close in size/configuration and the difference maker is probably the design of the overall bag as well as the price..

So will the canvas bags be subceptible to Mildew and Mould as well?

F3X is canvas.. there is a F3X-B for ballistic nylon. All J series are ballistic nylon.

Ballistic nylon easy to wipe clean.... but canvas more garang :bsmilie: So I own both  The other difference is a muted brand vs a RED logo
