Got this from DPreview's Sony SLR forum:
http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sony.jp%2Fproducts%2Fdi-world%2Falpha%2Fcommit.html&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8
There will be 20+ lenses availble under Sony's lens line up, though not sure how many are new one).

Sony also update their website flash by showing the shape of the camera with two knobs, kawaii or not?

http://www.sony.jp/products/di-world/alpha/

The flash/prism/mirror area seem proportionally bigger than 5D though  , does it mean that the camera comparatively smaller (kawaiier  )? Or the LCD screen place on top like R1 (though unlikely)? Or Sony use bigger prism

"Alpha wa yakusoku shimasu"

Yes. I'll be looking forward to it.

The dials look flatter than those on the 7 and 9... pls don't take away the 1/3 stop, 1/2 stop, and flash compensation 3-1 dial that I so love...

Guess it will be more waiting till June.

Here comes the BIG gamers in the market...

My wish list for alpha....

- Full Frame Sensor (comparable to Fuji S3Pro SCCD Sensor)
- 6 fps
- 12 AF points
- Reads off both CFs AND Memory Sticks simultaneously without the need for manual toggle
- AS built-in on sensor (juz like old KM)
- 98% Viewfinder
- 10MP Sensor (I was thinking 12MP, but I'll need to buy a new Mac just to process files)
- Manual controls of WB, EV, like Dynax7D
- High speed focusing motor
- Ultrasonic sensor cleaning (juz like what olympus has)

Price: SGD$4,000 ;p

its going to be afforable! $3K or less?

anyone spot the new silhouette?

I wonder will it be a pro body?? looks like the shape of a semi pro body only?it still needs
underwear to make it feel heavier.

if 6th of June is the release/announce date, its just merely 27 more days away :)

Dat smells pretty interesting. But no mention of crop factor size? :(

all these little teasers are killing us already!!

They haven't release any specifications yet. I'll be going down to service centre today I think I'll ask some questions.

Well that sort of well expected...

What will they do..? if they release something that is above 7D level and sell it at higher price, no one will buy those and it just kills the name, but if they release something like 5D and 10MP at $1000, it will be a great selling point to get a lot of user and release something better to further the market share.. then if all that looking good... Maybe and I said MAYBE (big ? here) they will release something more like 9D that we are hoping for.

Personally, I think it make sense in commercial world. Of course we want something like 7D with faster AF, quiter operation, higher fps, higher MP count, and price competitively.

I don't mind a full frame Alpha 9D (sounds good isn't it?) if it price around S$4000.

But right now, it is very wise to release something like 5D with higher MP and lots of lenses selection. If its 5D type DSLR, I won't be interested...

If you think about it, people always worry about the lens availability when they are thinking of buying KM stuff... hence this is one side of business that they have to build.

Personally, I don't see there will be a 7D replacement until end of 2006. Hope I am wrong!!! Only time will tell.

Stop thinking about it... shoot more...

dunno y got feeling that its going to be a small camera... from the looks of the pic...cos the side ring for strap, seem to resemble the D50/70 type... then the settings knobs on top looks big = size of camera small...

come to think about it... as long sony dun come out with the jog dial (anybody remember that?) with the DSLR, i think everything is safe...

Actually if its a rotate-press-select command dial (with ability to disable it of cos) like what the xxD-series of Canon or D1/D2-series of Nikon, I dun mind. ;p

But kinda, curious... how much would they price it for? We're looking at Sony R1s sporting the 1.6 crop factor, being marketed not as a (D)SLR range and yet costing like $1.1K to $1.2K. If they price the new DSLR at like $1.4K to $1.5K with a form factor and size like the Dynax 5D, its probably going to kill the R1 there and then? :dunno:

that depends wor... R1 comes with Carl Zeiss lens... and its those simple to use, rotation type of LCD panel... 5D however comes with a kit lens...
