aiya, dun need to argue so much. Just get a D2Xs or a 1DS MkIIN and everyone will be happy. All requirements fufilled by both.
Good idea... and use Zuiko Digital lenses... nice suggestion...

Correct me if I'm wrong but the D2H was built for the specific purpose of fast-action photography, where resolution is a non-issue.
The E-500 has double the pixels of the D2H anyway, so naturally it resolves more.
The new E-X is more correctly rumoured(!) to hit the shelves 3rd-quarter of 2007.
I don't think Oly would go head to head with C or N over the sports photography market; the two big boys have got it down pat.
I would expect Oly to carry on the E-1 route; compact and built like a tank; for the front-line photojournalists or nature photographers in tough environments.
Or for the amateur, an all-weather lightweight system for travelling; with probably something extra for underwater photographers i.e. live-view.
If this sounds skewed, it probably is... heck I do all of the above! :bsmilie:
Dig out an old thread..
here is the promotional "balloon" of the next pro system. :bsmilie:

It is so slow that I don't have the patience to wait for the download of the image. It also wants me install some new fonts which I say no to. Anyway, soon time for PMA and to start some new rumors...
Hope it's not Made in China...Quality is questionable.....12-60 f2.8....
O no, not again! So next "news" at PMA will be a new mockup plus a few P&S? So what? E-x release in Photokina 2007 (maybe)? I think if that is true Oly as dSLR brand is dead forever, in best case eaten up by somebody else, like Minolta.More rumors here..

If it is true, the E3 will only be officially announced in August.
hope they announce a 12-60 f2.8
it would be a good replacement for my old 14-45 lens.
Are these facts or just more rumor? And if they are facts, why can't we read it on Olympus official web? Last time the rumor said new E-x will be introduced at Photokina 2006. Well, maybe this time it is true. The new pro body would be released in Aug, but should be announced during PMA.
I would think at least one prosumer DSLR would be released during PMA, as well as a few lenses (12-60mm f2.8? Sounds very interesting, but I would gladly have it f3.5 and have it lighter and cheaper.)
While we discussing lens wishlists, why not 12-70mm f2? That would be equal to 24-140mm film and would cover 90% of my needs.
You can't really compare P&S and dSLR. Just look at the tiny lens a P&S has. The brighter and the wider the lens gets the more expensive it is going to be. I must say I don't really understand you comment about 20-24mm being more acceptable. More acceptable than what? I would like wider than that, I would like the idea of 12mm at the widest end and 70mm at the longest. Why? Well I think wider than that would make the lens too large and too expensive. Longer than 70mm would do that too and in addition to that even much longer and considerably heavier. Also, I personally almost never have use for less than 18mm so the range below that would be unused mostly but good to have. I think below 12mm the lens may get a fisheye effect and get problems with parallax. I do like straight lines and I think that would be a problem. The upper limit of 70mm is the same as 140mm on film. It is a very suitable focal length for portraits. So a zoom from 12mm to 70mm would cover a large range, large enough for most of my needs.I don't understand why Olympus bother with a 14-35 f2. 28mm is somewhat passé, heck even most P&S come with 28mm now. For DSLR I think 20-24mm at the widest end is more acceptable these days. Guess doing so will cannibalize sales from the expensive 7-14mm.
