#1. What do you think if it is rotated? Is it still that bad?

you should have an idea how you wana present your photos before checking the viewer's opinion and not asking the viewers how the photo should be presented and do accordingly coz you are the person creating the photos. Even if we viewers say you shouldn't do this or that, try to reason out why you did so...or wrestle it with your own initial intention and judge yourself... there's no SOP to follow...:bsmilie:

Welcome. Most of us like to shoot pretty pictures & pretty gals of course but it takes time to practise.

Below is a great example. Have a good study, not just browse through but study how kongo takes her. Her gaze, emotions etc. this skill takes years to perfect.

Before that, you'll have to understand your camera first or at least while shooting. Different settings, sensors etc create different results. then the colors, lighting, composition all go hand in hand. Have fun

Your 1st pic is actually quite alright. A little under-exposed but easily corrected with software. Have a reflector on the lower right would do wonders but yes, vertical it please.

One thinking is that you should post only photos that "belong together". Your photos look like they were taken on a different day by a different photographer with different everything.

When in doubt, just post one. And then maybe you can try to get the same style to work for the other photos that you'll like to share too.

That's what I'd do when posting that is.

I adjusted a bit the first photo and vertical-ed it. Now will adjust the color of the second one and crop some.

2nd photo has some blue cast repaired. and cropped the white highlights

Nevermind wah on...just show us more of your shots in future...if there is improvement, it means you've made it.

Forget what I've mentioned about. Just shoot more, and you will learn more.

Do what YOU want and produce what YOU like. Unless you have a specific commission from a client as to style/content then develop you own style.

I absolutely laugh out loud at some of the comments posted here from weekend warriors who have never probably ever down a commercial glamour shoot or will ever do one. Photography is art and art is not for technical purists.

Now go out, find some pretty girls and enjoy what you do!

don't sneer at technical aspect of photo, it is just as important as your fluffy art ideas.

you think commercial glamour shots mean a lot? you think having done a commercial glamour shot means you are the bomb? then you are just as misguided as the "weekend warriors" you sneer at.

taking good pictures doesn't mean that the photographer has to be humble, but humility is always good.

i can throw out quite a few "commercial glamour shots" that mean nothing in my book, just probably some good networking by said photographer and carrying of balls. so unless you have the pictures to show it and bring it, and the humility to go with it, there is no need for snide remarks here. there are loads of hobbyists who have never done a single commercial glamour shot but can shoot better than many professionals. sorry, i mean "professionals" with inverted commas out there , who think too highly of themselves.

and the 2nd picture would be better if the arm was not crop away and framing is lowered to show the arm and face although top part of the head would be cut off abit

If you are on primes, move back. If not, zoom out.

look out for your "favourite" photographers or posts in the forum or elsewhere on the web, and then perhaps you have an idea of what you would like to create in your future works. every photographer has a different style. what's more important is that you define your own vision, your own creative "eye"..... everyone definitely has a different viewpoint, but define your own and yeah ask yourself questions about your photos (why you composed it this way instead of that-the choice of background, landscape or portrait orientation, etc.. what features were you trying to bring out? what kinda feel you tried to create? what kind of post-processing you chose to do and why-for what effect? etc).

just educate yourself more and keep shooting. you'll improve! :bsmilie:

I think for a beginner it's actually pretty good (seen worse from other noobs).
Definitely can be improved upon, but overall got potential.
