i believe the moderator of this section deleted your post. to answer your question, guidelines in critique corner are tailored to reflect the tendencies and needs of postings. the issues of critique corner have been debated many times, i don't see you raising your doubts in the countless discussions, so are you trying to be an opportunist and ignite some kind of flaming here? you've been in this forum long enough to know that there's a feedback section. if you think critique corner is badly run and should be conducted in another fashion, you are always welcomed to volunteer your service to maintain the section, whether the admin will allow you to do that is another question.

Eikin:

Nope, I am not trying to start a flame war, it has never cross my mind.:nono:
Clubsnap is a nice place to visit after all and you are a good guy

I did not read about the many debates on issues about critique corner, this may be due to my selective reading.

I do not think that critique corner is badly run either, in fact I find it educational at most times.

As for the rules, I find that there is too many red tapes.
I feel that as long the poster is courteous and respect the community, he or she could use whatever appropriate terms to express his/her thoughts and feelings.

Since we are not comfortable with this sub-line, lets stop it here.:)

i can be very frank with you that i take issues with critique corner seriously, alot of moderators and SUs have invested alot of effort trying to make the section work for this community, not because we're so bored to waste time on it. personally speaking, i've many experiences of critique work myself and i see alot of wasted opportunities inside CS because of the lack of a working system to guide critique work, given the membership base and capabilities demonstrated by CS members, we believe that we can do better than what we have now. and personally i also take offense in people trying to take sections of the literature found inside critique corner out of context and start some pseudo crusade in the name of free speech. freedom is not the freedom to do whatever you want, freedom is the right to act while respecting others' freedom. respect is key to critique, and also forum activity. offering pictures made with little effort is disrespectful to the critics. posting casual and inconsequential remarks and passing them off as critique is disrespectful to the critique seeker.

And you created this account just to post this?

He is not contradicting himself, this is called paying someone back with his own coin.

You contradict yourself, if you ask for credentials from Nikontiger, aren't you suggesting that that is the correct attitude?

This is newbies section, right? TS subscribed to majority views, and had posted big fonts. He is entitled to his views with equal rights as anyone here. This seems very malicious and revengeful. After all, he is advocating fairplay and openness, there is nothing wrong on that. But the thread mutates into this messy state . I may not agree with his ideas, but I respect his guts and tenacity, and standing for his beliefs unlike many followers I can see here. I'm new member, but not new man.

Yes, I agree with your initiatives, they meant to do good for this community.
I can also see that you and your team are trying hard to raise the standard of the critique corner and also the reputation of clubsnap as a whole. Your results are good.

I see photography as an art work, no two pictures are created the same. A technically correct picture may not be captivating. Likewise a nice picture can have many technical flaws. It is very difficult for a lay person like me to give proper critiques that are up to the stipulated standard, but I would like to give encouragement and tell the critique seeker that his/her picture is beautiful and has charmed me. For an example, how would you describe love? Very difficult to say, right? But I will say it is a wonderful feeling just as I would say it is a wonderful picture when the picture capture my soul.
Is it a bad thing to have both professional critiques and simple words of encouragement in the Critique Coner?
But, according to Wolfgang, you are still the boss and you lay the rules and we play according to the rules be it fair or not.
I respect you for taking your time to clarify your stands.

Freedom is a must for a forum to thrive. I am not saying freedom to burn down clubsnap. Like you say, practice freedom in the right context. Merely agreeing with Deadpoet on the freedom to express earns me a warning proper from Wolfgang. I find it hilarious and over reaction from that mod and it is going to set back some of the good works you all have done for this forum.

you be careful, later kana warning proper, like me.;p

This is a flame thread.................................and some how, 有人活在自欺欺人的世界里。

is it a bad thing to have simple words of encouragement in critique corner? yes it is, like i mentioned, as proven by the past postings in critique corner.

if you want me to allow 1-liners like ''nice,'' ''i like it'' to be posted in critique corner, i will have to allow words like ''sucks,'' ''trash quality'' to be posted as well. they are all abstract description of feelings derived from viewing the pictures. if you want to give simple words of encouragement it's not like there's no other channel, what's the private message function for? the guidelines of critique corner forces people to make posts with better quality than ''nice'' and ''sucks'' not only for critique seeker's benefit, the critique giver himself/herself learns in the process of writing as well.

you should look at how you took DP's words out of context as well. DP posted in response to TS's behaviour in this thread http://clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3165829&postcount=218, you quoted him out of context and in an unreasonable manner like TS question the moderation of the forum http://clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3166725&postcount=236

you think this kind of rude forum behaviour is acceptable?

set back the work done? the only people who can set back the work done are people who have nothing better to contribute except trouble to the forum. that includes the couple of clones found inside this thread.

all i can see is that he suggests that "alot of people see what you're trying to do."

there is no reference to any other statement

Yea, but he quotes two accounts, and refers to them collectively as "you're".

Perhaps if that is not the intention, it would be better referred to as "both of you are"

you might have a point there

Maybe you've miss my points for one reason or another.

Yes, you were right that I'm suggesting you prove your credentials, but that is only because you insisted that creadentials are necessary. Since that is your stand, should you not practise what you preach? That was my suggestion.

Of course, you may chose to disagreed with me and that's fine. We're entilted to our opinion and I think we can chose to agreed to disagreed. I've accorded you the courtesy, and do hope for a gentlemanly gesture from you.

No, I didn't contradict myself.
Niknotiger is the one who belives that credentials are necessary. Thant being the case, I'm just asking him to back his belives and practise what he preach.

Cheers

Yes, other than the " now no longer around Student ", vince is another who's good.

Regarding the 2 new CS members here, the 2 of them questioned my postings, and I'm fine with it, I think I've answered them, in the proper manner.

If they don't know nikontiger, it's a good chance for me to explain things to them.

If they do know nikontiger, sorry guys, didn't work.

If you really know nikontiger and post that in support of him, I think it backfired. :bsmilie:

Actually contrary to popular opinion, I believe that Student is still around surfing the forums, although he is no longer posting.

His user profile shows him being logged in recently.
