actually if you had gone beyond the min focus distance, you wouldnt have been able to release the shutter...unless of course you were in continuous or manual focus modes. the green focus light would have been blinking. i suspect you focused incorrectly or you moved after achieving focus. either way its a user error...not lens or camera.
