looks like the AIS does out perform the NC version for clarity and contrast. also overcomes the slightly cool tint to the images the NC version produced.

im not sure where the bad reviews for this lens come from... certainly the corners arent super sharp wide open, but thats not what its for. it really excels with skin tones and has one of the best out of camera colours of any lens i ve used.

From sample images that i see online, the 35mm ais f1.4 often exhibits nervous bokeh.
I decided against it when i bought the Samyang 35mm f1.4 lens.
