I personally like this one for the off engagement... Quite a pity the right hands a little undertoned and in the shadows...

Don't be afraid of the shadows. You need 'Chiaroscuro' to complete what is missing. :)

Actually it's just part of the pre-discussions before i meet any one of them.... that includes everything else like what to bring, what makeup, sleep, rest, heels, eating before shoots, and other details that might have been missed like contacts, and safety shorts if they're wearing anything too short.. hair brushes, pressure marks yada yada...

The attire bit... it's usually almost always a single piece attire (neutrals) and a top and jeans/shorts combo depending on model's height.. there no specific way i run it through them though ... and as for tact.... i'd just politely ask if they have the attire available... most of my longer working models will shoot their entire wardrobe for me... so i can just choose from there.... (takes time and effort of course) but for anyone else coming for testwork... it's usually just whatever they have available....

Hope that helps... :)

wow, thats' impressive work but i agree that makes the difference between your shots and others - sometimes i can't stand how some of the models dress no matter how pretty they are. but yours is always pleasant. they are always comfortable to the eyes. but well that tremendous amount of work probably would keep me off this arena, nevertheless with the lack of travel portraits here, i still enjoy the posed portraits too.

Hosted Vivian this morning for a short meetup :) and along the way took some pictures (around my area as usual)... Appreciate Vivian for her very kind patience and enthusiasism in working with me.. and of course, due credits be given her for the effort and willingness to share more about herself... It's a good session... :) So here's the usual boring and simple images from yours truly... (As always... critical commentaries and opinions are very welcome :) but do also appreciate the models hard efforts... TY!)

: Vivian :) :

the face and the lighting is absolutely beautiful in this take. i thought she looks better in the oblique or side profile as the front profile looks broad. i'm not sure if winging out her elbows could help in making the profile less broad and more slender... anyone would advise against this suggestion?

Now that I'm in here, it is a pleasant surprise to see your new work that is out of the studio. I feel it is a refreshing change towards the excellent lighting in your studio portrait work (especially of one particular young girl with a violin), but despite the change to location, you made a very eye-pleasing well-executed image series of Vivian. :)

I think the high-key look appeals to Deadpoet who, if I'm not mistaken, likes high-key too as I have seen in many of his work.

haha.. i guess that's where comfort plays a part in everything.. without all the fancy clothes.. it probably makes people notice people more.... no? :)

I agree with the side profile too... kinda thought she's petitie enough to try a broadside view... winging her arms out actually does help make her face more pronounced... (and she really have a lovely face).. but potentially might make her look a little less proportionate because of hmm.. a bigger face (abeit very sweet one!) ;)

Thank you zoossh for your great comments and compliments... pleasure having you viewing!

To what i owe the pleasure... it's been a while since i last saw you posting Jemapela.. :) and the studio has been gone for such a long time I pretty much forgot how to turn on the strobes... (not so sure about the girl with a violin though.. i've shot a few ladies with bass and guitars, flutes and clarinets but dont think i've done a violin set before...)

Then again, hardly mattered... i reallly thank you for the kind comments on the photographs and as for DP... he's got a touch that's unrivalled... but i'm sure he's into high-key works.. although his low key works are  too...

Thank you irene... The feeling is mutual towards your works..... APpreciate the compliment indeed... i'll need to go back to indon sometime to shoot some people!

This one i really like.... although some might find the broadside chest a little heavy... but gosh... she must have one of the nicest smiles in the forums..... Pulled in a little closer just to give more emphasis to her face... which really is her pulling factor.... Do give the lady some commendations :) (Darn it.. shot too low DOF... missed the back eye..)

the nose for the model seems abit weird? :dunno:

the nose for the model seems abit weird? :dunno:

:) well.... vivian thinks her nose is a little flat.... but really, i guess that's alright as long as it's her! possibly i might have made it look 'weird' from my approach.. but i'd personally try not to comment too personally on the ladies least they feel a little self-concious... (every model deserves credit... even when the photographers done a horrid job)

Appreciate the comment though nattie.. thank you

that's true. i find it a hard part to be too critical about how people looks in a less ideal manner.. maybe she looks better with her nares facing a bit more downward and less prominent

 That will be well recieved by both myself and certainly vivian... :)

It's hard to be nice when you're critical.. but with a bit of tact and honest opinion... it's usually well accepted.. and we all benefit from that construtive comment... :)

Thank you zoossh!
