Very poor service from Alan Photo, Funan

So ABC of buying photography gears around Funan area - Don't go to A, don't go to B, go to C? :bsmilie:

C= Challenger?:bsmilie:

I
am sad to hear that, there are lots of shitty service in singapore. They look at pple by their age and dressing... I think its good to point out, so that pple can avoid that shop... I also got very extremely sucky service at pernisular plaza 1st floor buying a "benro" tripod, from a "advertriser" here which many clubsnapers claims to be nice and trustworthly.. *I Guess*... He service and face is like "I own him money" and yet i am still so polite, also in the end i realise he never give me a recipt too. Now I realise the price is a little overprice compare to others. Even if its cheap now, I would buy from there. Always remember, without customers buying, You have all kinds of PRO camera n equipment also no use... Doing business is about thankful customers! Ungradeful pathetics...

I think I know who he is talking about though I don't agree with his views. Went there once to look for a tripod. The only Benro tripod dealer in Mass Sales.

It is not an accident.
The salesman's technique is on purpose.
He probably practiced that demeanor in the same way we learn swimming or table tennis for hours each day over a long period of time.

well....it worked on you !!!

It is called reverse psychology.

Rude salesmen are not an accident.
Shops realise that it works on some customers/shoppers.
It motivates a certain type of shopper to buy.

But if they try it on the wrong type of customer who do not fit your psychological profile, then there may be a fight. Which happened often in Lucky Plaza years ago.

Not all of the salesmen in the shop will be "assigned" the [rude salesman] role.
Like in police movies, there will be a bad cop and then a good cop to deal with the customers.

It is a trick on your mind.
Applied psychology.

For all you know, the [rude salesman] at the end of the work day may turn off his assigned role, drop the act, and become a nice guy to his friends away from the workplace.

AP service is pretty bad in my view, if u wan to test an equipment without buying, they simply show face and walk away serving other customers..

More customer oriented services, I strongly recommend MS, OP and TK Foto:thumbsup:

A = Alan Photo :thumbsd:

B = Bally Photo :thumbsd:

C = Cathay Photo :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

:D

not really lah... other camera shops still at least attend to you if you ask for their attention. i went there cos it's recommended by a friend but every time go there they always try to chop me or give me rude attittude , eventually i jus stop going there and buy from john/CP if i'm in the area.

I'm sharing this, not to complain, but to warn of the kind of customer service you get at some shops. and at this, im referring to Alan Photo. Im a regular at clubsnap, and i've seen so many threads regarding Alan Photo services, good or bad. Mostly bad comments i've read about. I dont really pay much attention to the threads complaining about Alan Photo.

while i do not like patronising AP either, i must say, what a lot of people term "good service" can come at a cost.

the smiling salesmen are often the ones who will be likely to rip you off and abuse the "good service" and warm fuzzy feeling like you are somebody.. by charging a slight premium, as is often the case i find.

give me the gruffness of lord's or OP any day, i prefer such shops.

I enjoy going to CP at Peninsula........ Kelvin and Duncan are the ones I usually go to who usually apologize if they are currently servicing other people at counter and tell you go look around and browse until they have time ..... otherwise they will ask if its Ok that another colleague look after me

That spectacle-wearing old man at their other shop next door selling tripods and dry boxes is also not bad

Pricing is fair but not rock bottom (so not really the place for bargain hunters)

I also quite enjoy visiting Camera Workshop. Nelson (old bald guy) always patient .... just dont seem to see Don around too much these days ....... they used to have such a museum of old second hand stuff that I loved browsing through.....

there's only 1 "shop" that stands out for me in terms of price and most of all, "ATTITUDE". so far with my experience I've never encountered a rude person, well as long as you're not rude yourself. (well there's one somehow bad encounter but i wouldnt count it as rude anyway)

its the CLUBSNAP PERSONAL CLASSIFIEDS BUY/SELL. seriously. :cheers::cool::cheergal:

well...you are spending the money not them...
for me...very simple....svc lousy....i wun buy..:)

you never got lowballed there before?

"gimme half price please, i am poor student" etc

i've only sold twice, once to a student. he mentioned his price range, i offered my better package for a bit higher, he agreed. its no dslr.

I agree with Alan photo's bad service. I went there two times to check the price, both times bad service.
I buy most of my stuffs at Cathay Photo. Price may be not the best, but I can test the product even I dont buy without any attitude from sales person.

I too had bad experience from their Funan store (SLS was OK sometimes, good sometimes) ..

anyway was looking for this new Xacti camcorder since it's cheap.. but I wanted to see if its good enuff or not (since cheap normally has lots of drawback)

went in, as usual got ignored. Ask to show the camera.. give the face as if I asking him run 10km .. take camera out i ask to test it, CANNOT. Batt not there.. so i ask him to take batt.. he say cannot..

since cannot this , cannot that.. then I also cannot buy lor.

It actually depends on who you speak to. My experience at AP was somewhat pleasant as David shared his insights with me even though on one or two occasions i did not buy anything but just to research.

Yeah la...not happy you still go and buy and then come here complain...you damn funny....uncle give you that face you give him face then walk away...plenty of other places to buy...but instead you kena intimidated and pressured to buy from him.....next time remember you are the consumer!!

What we have in Singapore is very much like 3rd world kind of practice.

so so true, dis what happening most of the time, not all but most shops

cheers

The name "Alan" always sounds like Ah-beng to me all the while... LoL. So I confirm will never visit Alan Photos. C.P/O.P/Or John 3:16 is good.

I would rather go John 3:16
The boss Samuel is super friendly even when you are not making any purchase.
AP is last on my list for camera shopping at city hall region.

Normally service at AP at SLS is betta than Funan.
