I like the colours and details!
I maybe wrong bro..but you can try cropping off the entire horizon for this?
There were not much interesting elements on the horizon/skies when you take this I think..
Either you can give more space to the horizon and 'touch-up' on it, or leave it out totally. It makes the image more 'simple' imo..
But then again my pov may not be correct lah bro :embrass:

Haven't done a globe for a while. Didn't like
the extension so I replaced with grey, and
then added the Compass fonts which could seem
a bit too cheesy... but what the heck
Okay, taken note. I didn't know what to do actually, sky was definitely a goner on Sat with that kind of weather, so I didn't want to include but don't understand enough to include or don't include. Wish you were there on Sat then at least got immediate advisor (sorry abt Sun.. zz)
I was thinking whether move the whole log into water (I would have shot that too, if it didn't start raining). Think that's a better idea?
I'm way behind you in this stuff... maybe another half year, I can catch up.
I think it's very subjective la whether to include or not. In this situation to add more sky may not even work in colour when the sky is all gloomy and without any cloud movements.
A best example I can think of is soulFLY's images which are quite similar:

There was a suggestion to crop the horizon away totally also for this, but Thomas decided to keep it because he liked the cloud movements, and it was justified but a bit more space given to the horizon will be nicer I thinksweat
. And noticed how he composed the element(leading towards the horizon?) which is more interesting and eye-catching.
Another example:

In the end it's through our experience and perception that will make our picture works or us, the least.
Aiyo it won't make much difference if I was there also la..but I must admit I would 'tamper' with the subject matter a bit by dragging it closer to the water and 'leading' it towards the sea..maybe pointing at that particular floating beacon far ahead?..hehehe..
All things said this is just my opinion with the limited experience and knowledge I have bro. The experts may have differing opinions about this and I may be totally wrong :embrass:
Where got..we are twinnies what..it's just that I spend more time doing this stuff while you are at archi landscapes.I can also say the same of your archi landscapes. Our focussing is different only hehehe..
Note: Thomas if you are reading this I hope you don't mind I share the links to your pics as an example and a guideline.
Nicely done! How many shots did you stitch?
agree with r00ki3.... OFF WITH THE HORIZON!I like the colours and details!

agree with r00ki3.... OFF WITH THE HORIZON!(in #133)
I just covered it with a piece of black paper, and it looks much simpler.
The log like a bit flat leh, the colour...

I love this shot actually, simple and love the subtle tones to it.
But I would prefer the composition of the log to be pointed to the center of the horizon to give more strong composition as mentioned by Zul.
The clarity of the FG log and sand texturing is very nice. Mayhap 1/3 of the sky to be seen more would be ideal for this shot..
Keep up the good job Bernard!
Hi Thomas, yes... hope to learn from more you guys. I'm very weak in this aspect but always willing to learn! Thanks for your comments, I will keep them in mind when I shoot these again!
You are doing great!
Keep up the good job and till now, am still practising the right way!
Fine weekend ahead!

I can already imagine the light streaks going on..
Yeah! I will try that again at night when I move to the East next month! Thanks for suggestion.
