Various landscape photos

You are coming to the East wildcat? Bedok or Tampines? Excellent, can easily call you out for a quickie photoshoot whatever, whenever!

Bedok :) yeap sure, let's meet up once I've settled down. Probably after mid-Oct.

Dude, where's my log?
First in a series of 3 shots.
Was walking along the beach looking for
the same logs (#133) we found two weeks ago
but it was clean
Sun was coming up fast so just stopped
and snapped :embrass:

Skipped pic 2 and went to two choices of pics 3
The two are almost identical and they both
have a bit of something I wanted to include.
I still can't decide :dunno:

Walked further down to the rest of friends
but got stuck here as the beach area ends
Decided to camp here instead.

Hastily set up tripod - need to get one
of those shorty centre column else
I am stuck with imbalanced tripod everytime.

Between 138a and 138b, I'd choose a - the waves are more dramatic and wave lines pointing inwards. Feels up an empty area in 138b with more wave shadows.

Good job there! Wish I can be up that early at the beaches.

Edit: then again, my bad... forgot that it was a sunset and not sunrise...blunder! Lolz

My first choice was 138a also. But I thought 138b had a more dramatic wash-over-me feel. Both the 2nd incoming waves are near same so that wasn't so much of the deciding point (although there were other pics where 2nd incoming waves were more dramatic but without the wash-over-me feel). In the end, I just wasn't sure... Thanks for the feedback!

It was a sunrise ;)

As FG subject or min? I didn't take any more min, but I tried to move myself to recompose after this. It was difficult though coz tripod is difficult to handle (bent the centre column to follow one of the tripod legs). Need to get shorty centre column before I do this again :embrass:

no lah, ballhead only sirui..just like you mah..worst still it's aluminium not carbon fibre..but I'm happy. It can go diving, submerge underwater, planted deep inside the sandy beach.. heart not so pain....i like! hehe

Heh, okay. So we're still twinnies. Need to learn how to balance the tripod... next time you teach me, ok?

After yet another failed attempt
to balance lighting with HDR software Photomatix,
am back to use exposure blending.

Bro, its not entirely bad IMO. Shot was framed pretty nicely. And its pretty cool that you managed to get the plane too. :bsmilie:

By the way i think i spotted flare on one of the FG rocks.

These are a really great series of shots! Guessing you set your WB cooler?

Two shots were used: one of them was without filter, and the other with filter (quite obvious, plane was part of pic without filter :bsmilie:). Other than plane, I added back in part of the rolling waves also - not too sure if too tacky :dunno: while putting back some light to the rocks.

Yep, thanks for pointing out about the flare.

Quite the opposite. The picture I had was unnaturally blue, so I had to pull back on the blue and added warmth in, to make it look less unbelievable! :o

For #138, I processed RAW files into two, one without hue and one with hue +1 (made it slightly greener) which I felt puts the sea-colour back in, and merged the two. Otherwise it would be slightly more on the magenta colour side.
