[ Vanity ] Olympus EM-5 accessories thread

I went to New Sankyo in March - was disappointed - I wanted the 9-18mm, they said no stock, but told me the price anyway - and it was similar to the prices here!

Hi , how much did they quote u ?
I'm going HK again in June, will help u check out the price and shop name ; also looking for this lens heh. Maybe u PM me your contact no if u don't mind and I can update u end of June when I'm back.

Local prices here around $930 (cash) I can't stomach.

I went to New Sankyo and also two Broadway shops...I think the price was HKD5600...but they didn't have stock anyway, so no point in bargaining :( Was only there for a weekend, so couldn't wait as well...

Hi ,

Hmm ... I called new Sankyo just last Sun. It's at 4300HKD , around SGD700. And I had made sure I was inquiring for the MFT version and not the FT ver. I'll call and reserve 1st as I've always done with them one week before flying over.

Anyway I'm going over mid June to make the purchase. Update u again and definitely if u need it I can photocopy my receipt for u to show them for bargaining.

If its at HKD5600 , it's quite impossible as SG can get this for $830 , approx HKD5146. I'm using conversion of 1 to 6.2 loosely. Think prob because u must look very rich n carrot-y ;)

Oh ya , for now if u can't wait ;

Can order from T Dimension website , around HKD4400 and postage around SGD 30 , still cheaper than SG.

Dunno about the rich look - but definitely carroty! But yeh - they said no stock, so no desire to bargain on my part...anyway - I was there on the weekend of the Rugby 7s - so I guess there were a lot of tourists there to carrot that weekend...

Bro,

I just got in touch with Tony from New Sankyo. I've confirmed the quotation for HKD4300 for the MFT 9-18mm. (<$700) , the 45mm/1.8 he quoted at HKD2400. (<$400)
U wana long bang me get the lens for you when i drop by HK in mid-June? Feel abit paiseh as I was e one who recommended u e shop. All lenses of course are new, with boxes and Oly international warranty. I don't buy water goods and I really am dead sure HKD4300 is like one of the lowest possible prices u can get in HK. SG best price is still avr $930 at Funan area.

Tony should have quoted u HKD5200, that's the price he quotes for 'ang-mos', 'tourists' etc. HKD4300 is the price he quotes for HK pple n regulars. I'm getting the 45mm and 9-18mm.

OK, so here is my tricked up E-M5. Looks like there are no more weight savings... ha ha ha...

The add on list :

1. Leather palm/wrist strap from Herringbone.
2. HLD6 + additional BLN-1 battery.
3. Spyder carrying system with modified bottom plate (cannot remember the name).
4. Ciesta plate to mount camera straps at the bottom of the camera. (D-Ring also allow fastening to Rapid Strap system if needed).
5. Addition steel ring to replace eyelet. This allows the camera to be held via standard mountaineering harnesses.

So you have a camera that can be carried in five ways. Neck, shoulder, D-ring on backpack, strap to chest or on belt back. (Six if you consider the camera dangling off my wrist, seven if you add D-Ring at the bottom to be fastened to the Rapid Strap system, and eight if you consider that the belt harness plate at the bottom is also a tripod mounting plate). Functionality this is pretty much as good as it can get. From trekking, climbing and even horse riding. Tested and it worked perfectly and securely.

Working on a dual camera harness system based on CQC straps we used in the gun clubs for action shooting. Hope that will work out. Will post pictures if successful.
