[ Vanity ] How are you wearing your E-M5?

Using a soft Crumpler The Noose wrist strap on my OM-D.

- Cam-In Calf Leather Wrist Strap
- Custom SLR Glide Strap with C-Loop
- Gariz Half Leather Case Special Edition

The amazing glide strap lets me use the camera in a "gunshot" style. I can just slip out of the wrist strap and leave the camera hanging at my side.

When I need to use it, merely glide it up to my torso easily and take the shot.

One thing about using this on the OM-D E-M5 as oppose to using a traditional leather neck strap... the lugs on the camera does not get in the way of pressing the shutter.

Particularly useful when fitted with my 45-200mm. Makes it so much more usable and less tiring.

This just hits the sweet spot. Highly recommended.

My Gordy strap came in a few days ago. Reasonable quality and happy to buy from the original creator.

I've been looking around for a sling strap also but most of what i find are either way too expensive or overkill

I like this one for simplicity but I don't feel too secure with its wright limit of roughly 1 kg, prefer somewhere around 2 or better xD

anyone here knows an alternative?

Looks handy but I prefer a securely attached one.

The glide strap I use is plenty much to handle heavier DSLRs and maybe even sorta overkill for my OM-D even with the 45-200mm telephoto.

But it's super secure and extremely comfortable.

[UPDATE] Found this article on camera strap tests!

I just hold the camera in my hands. No straps, nothing at all.

I have no doubt you'll be careful with your gear.

In the four years I've used the LX3, I've never dropped or bumped her. It was really light and compact but I still use a wrist strap.

I'm really careful too, but I can't account for clumsy idiots who bump into me and could possibly propel the camera out of my hands.

The OM-D is even heavier. Shooting for hours on end really does get tiring if I don't use any of the accessories.

All 3 serves their purpose:
1) Half Case - Added grip area for better handling
2) Wrist Strap - Added security for casual shooting
3) Glide Strap - Convenience using the camera for hours and for walking about and keeping my hands free (Usually just 1 left hand free, the other is still in the wrist strap while the camera is hanging from my side) when I need to reach into my bag for a battery, SD card or another lens.

I just hold the camera in my hands. No straps, nothing at all.

Reminds me of Kai... from DigitalRev. He never use straps but always gets to play with the newest toys, taking them out into the street.

The audiences' heart literally skipped with his "dangerous" handling (I'm sure he dropped 'em before) and will leave comments or write to him to have these new babies secured via a neck or wrist strap. Hahaha....

I remember a ridiculous episode where he had to keep one hand in his pocket like an English gentleman while running everywhere with an OM-D. (Was it an OM-D?)

Straps are actually more hazardous for me since I mount my cameras on the tripod most of the time. A few times, my hands were caught and entire setup almost toppled so no dangling thingy on my cameras.

Good point. :D

I don't even have a tripod... yet.

Just Gorillapod. :P

Good point about hand getting caught on strap while camera is mounted on a tripod.

I uses a neck strap on my camera. Whenever I had it mounted on a tripod, I always ensure the strap are placed in front of the tripod and not dangling behind the tripod thus cutting down on accidental entanglement by hand, belt or bag.

As for wrist strap, I have seen people looping it over the lens when the camera is on the tripod.
