Were you attacked with a wok for shooting the food and not allowing the folks around you to touch the food until you were done shooting? Ha ha ha...

I noticed the little red dot (again)... is this a stick on or how did you attach a soft shutter button on your E-P5?

Have fun with the 12-40mm. The close up function makes it all the more fun.

I m a new owner of a E-P5 and one thing i absolutely love about the camera is the shutter sound. I mean wow! It sounds buttery smooth - mechanically buttery! :-)

Just remembering that sounds makes my mouth water..;-)

Welcome to the Pen users "club"... now to add a 12-40mmPro like our friend here.

Haha, u brought up a good point. I seldom shoot my food and frankly can't really stand those friends of mine who make everyone wait minutes so they can produce food porn. Today I was just really itching to shoot the 12-40 on the EP5 and I did feel I kinda gained the attention of the restaurant staff too.

The red dot (Jia lat , it's starting to be associated with me Liao) is a Gariz stick on soft button that I get from eBay. They do sell it in SG but it's really overpriced here. It's a personal weakness of mine ever since the EP1

Thank you.
I was a m43 user with the GX1. My mom loves it so much i had to give it to her.

12-40 mm too big for me. I have 14 mm , 25 mm, 40-150 mm the 14-45 zoom. Wanna add a few more primes first.

Hope yo meet you guys on the 3rd!

Some samples of REALLY RANDOM photos from the 12-40 mounted on the EP5.

in short, I'm very very pleased with the potential. All are OOC JPEG and some cropped.

Looking Clear Shiok! Glad you made a good investment of Oly 12-40mm.

thank u. I'm sure the dark knight will work great with the 12-40 (actually it will give an even better grip!) ;)

Hi all,

the 12-40mm just came in this evening ;)

some photos of it mounted on the EP5.

Prior to only trying the 12-40 on the EM-1, I was kinda apprehensive of using the 12-40 on the EP5 due to possible 'imbalance' and EP5's grip but so far so good , but be warned , you will definitely feel the slightly larger size against the 12-35.

Will just share a few random photos of what the 12-40's capable of in a while

Just curious where did u get it from?

Reddot, thanks for the tip on the soft shutter button. Buying it for the wife to "bling" her camera. She spends more time "blinging" her camera than actually using it to shoot... ^_^""

Nice. I am quite sure you will end up with pretty impressive collection of lenses in no time.

Looking forward to meet up on the 3rd.

Dark knight...hmm... should I powder my E-M1 red or something? Have a "white dot" painted on the shutter release button... we can then form a boy band or something... ha ha ha... this is getting out of hand...

Here's the link ;)

US9.90 for 2, cheapest I can find whereas in SG u r forced to buy only 1 together with a hotshoe cover for SGD25.

XA-SB1 is the item model no. There's also a Gold/ Silver option.

Reddot.

My long time HK shop was kind enough to dekit one and FedEx it over at a price that would drive B n S mad. ;)

Or u can wait for the local official lens alone box set release on around Jan 14.

Using the 12-40 on the EP5 for close-ups is honestly a much better experience than the 12-35mm. The shorter min focusing distance really made a difference.
- and ya, don't forget the 12-40 isn't a macro lens -

ok... don't judge but these are facial oil stains on my iPhone 5 which isn't easy to capture. the amount of available detail even when i did a 10x zoom during camera playback is really stunning.

Off topic : You need to find a new friend... his name is Micro Mesh. I keep my JaegerLC shiny without having to send it in to the service center. But don't get too enthusiastic with the constant polishing. ^_^

Come to think about it, maybe it is time to invest in that extension tube?

Do a white powder and add a red dot and you will get Leica-Apple drool-worthy one :)

I was "addicted" to polishing everything in the house after finding this brand, recommended by my luthier. Micro Mesh makes polishing cloth for everything from plastics, to metals to wood, to... pretty much everything. And add polishing liquids, you can pretty much polish out stuff like scratches on plastic Swatch watches to scratched steel/gold finish on your watch... though the deeper scratches will take a lot more patience and skill.

I used to polish my tripod mounting plate to a chrome finish, but people start asking me for them so I stopped. It is quite cool though... imaging a chrome finish Arca-Swiss mounting plate. (Aluminum is super easy to polish if you know how). I am even thinking of polishing the new Mac Pro when I get it next year, and add graphics to turn it into a small retro looking desktop jet engine... my wife thinks I am crazy.
