Relief - Sri Lanka
Members of the Forum,
We have received a plea for aid from Sri Lanka Airlines for a list of emergency items needed for the survivors of the recent disaster.
We at FiNS have already made arrangements for medical supplies to be sent to Sri Lankan Airlines so that the items can be airlifted to the people who need it most.
We are in turn asking the members of the forum to help in this. The items that are most keenly needed are:
1. Tents
2. Food (Pre-cooked or ready-to-eat meal packs)
3. Water Purification Tablets
4. Wheat Flour, rice, other staples
5. Drugs: Paracetamol, anti-biotics, wound dressing, suture material, disposable syringes, vitamins, and vaccinations for diarrhea, cholera and malaria.
6. Intravenous infusions (saline and dextrose)
7. Portable generators
For small parcels/items, please have them sent to the Sri Lankan Airlines office at 133 Cecil Street, Keck Seng Tower, #13-02, Singapore 069535.
For medium-sized and large donations, contact Sri Lankan Airlines sin_sales@srilankan.aero and a staff member will make arrangements to collect items from your office either with their personal vehicles or with a logistics operator.
We will be contacting the Indian and Indonesian authorities as well. If anyone in the forum knows a contact there who will be willing to accept the help of the diver community, do let me know.

PENANG: Penang Meteorological Services Department has warned of possible series of smaller aftershocks that can trigger another tidal waves.
The department issued a warning for all marine and coastal activities to be minimised until 12.30pm on Wednesday.
It said the intensity of the aftershocks would be smaller compared with Sundays but could be destructive depending on the height of the waves and the location.
It also said new earthquakes could not be predicted.

We should really feel lucky about this.
My room mate is from Sri Lanka, and he's absolutely devastated by this. Never has a natural disaster strike his country in recent history, and his uncle, i heard fled in time but his house is now gone....
I have friends in Krabi, but I really don't know if they are alright....

Everytime I reload CNN the toll goes up. now its 26,000.
Even more despairing;1/3 of those dead are kids, because they don't have the strength or capacity to hold on to poles or anything at hand.
