just saw a japanese ad that says "New" Tokina AT-X 16-50mm F2.8 Pro
no price mentioned
so that would mean that it is either in the japanese market or soon to be in
pre-order now, means will take 1 to 2 months before official release lah
You don need japanese to understand what they say, you only need Babel FishFor those who understand japanese, does this website talked abt the lens that all of us are waiting?? http://blog.wild-north.com/?eid=345119![]()
Actually, the price given above is with tax and is the "list price", actual street price should be substantially lower. If you check the rest of the Tokina site, the price of the 50-135mm is given as 138,000 yen (w/o tax) which is about S$1,746, but the street price here is around S$1,150 (if I recall correctly).Just checked the japanese website, got delayed again it seems...
March 20th... sian...also the price tag is out of my budget...
118,650 Japanese Yen (JPY) = 1,501.30 Singapore Dollar (SGD)
With that price almost can get canon's 17-55 f2.8 USM liao....

even at 950, i would rather go for the tamron... <700. can use rest of the $ to get a good slim CPL and UV filter. :bsmilie: still got spare change to take cab home. :sweat:Actually, the price given above is with tax and is the "list price", actual street price should be substantially lower. Taking the same ratio of list price to street price for the 50-135mm (~66% of list price) and apply it to the 16-50mm (113,000 yen w/o tax), we can estimate the 16-50mm to be around $950. YMMV.
agreed with explorerz. I would also go for tamron. the extra 1mm on the wide side doesnt justify for the price![]()
so you think the 16-50 will perform a notch better?Well, we still have to actually have a detailed look at the product, it's optical and physical performance, whether the built is solid, and then we'll know whether the price is justified what.
