Yea got mine for $940 also. someone got it for $910, thats a good price. I got mine from TK. Anyhow, portraits, yea the distortion is pretty bad on the side of the lens, makes ppl look "wider". But at times, it can be fun. For example, i shot a dog at a beach, and this dog's nose was just in front of my lens and i shot it, the picture turned out very very nicely, made the dog's nose alot longer and made it cuter too. I brought this lens to a safari just last month and it didnt fail, was brilliant at twilight, captured the hot air balloon ride while setting up in virtually no light, performed at 7 degrees in the morning and barely 4 hours later it was 32 degrees, it was fine, no condensation issues. Overall, am very pleased with this lens just because its a 2.8 and very sharp at an affordable price.
