Hi all, just bought this lens in HK a few days ago..loving it!

got mine from Echo Photo & Audio at HKD4900..3yrs local & 1 yr int'l warranty :)

It should be 2 yrs international warranty and make sure you keep both warranty cards and the receipt.

Cheaper is always in HK :) SG is usual more ex…Warranty is international anyways. The agent is Cathay photo so maybe check there first? I believe brand new is over $900 where as it is $800 in HK when bought mine.

I got mine in JB, with 2 yrs warranty rm2050 only.

Hi... just got this lovely lens from TK at $900. Got myself a Zeta EX CPL for $150 and B+W MRC Nano Clear Glass just to protect it if not using CPL. Hope these buys are justified and worth every cent that i spend. Cant wait to try it out today.

I recently used the 11-16mm on a holiday trip overseas and found that most of my shots with this lens were blur even when I used an aperture of f/8 in bright sunlight. When I checked the lens' operation, I was surprised to find that the lens would actually only auto-focus when the clutch on the lens barrel is set to the MF position. This is against all logic and completely opposite of what was stated in the lens' instruction manual. As I had of course set the clutch to the AF position, it's no wonder all my photos were out of focus and ruined. :(

Is this the way the 11-16mm supposed to operate from the experience of other users here?

Is there anything wrong with the lens? I just came from a trip too which I mounted my cam with 11-16 & my son's cam mounted with 17-50. Both our pics seem good & there is no blur pic during bright sunny day.

You might have a bad copy. Mine working just fine.

So does that mean that both your lenses would autofocus when the clutch is at the AF position and manual focus when it is the MF position?

My copy autofocus when its a the AF position and manual focus at the MF position, its only natural that its like that right? Maybe your copy has a wiring fault?

That's what I would expect but we never know sometimes how the designers think. For example, in every brand of DSLRs with image auto-rotation feature that I have used, I find it extremely irritating that I have to 'switch off' auto-rotation in the menu in order to turn it on in the LCD display. Totally illogical to me.
Anyway, if everybody's 11-16mm works the normal way, I will bring mine to Cathay Photo service centre to have it rectified. At the same time, I will ask them to check out the optics as I am not happy with the image quality even when it did autofocus properly. I find the image quality to be rather poor given the rave reviews... my 16-80mm is far, far sharper at 100% view.

Lens will focus if both clutch on lens & cam switch is on AF. But if clutch on lens is on AF & cam switch is on MF, lens will not focus.

But if clutch on lens is in MF & cam switch is in AF, you still can do manual focusing.

Mine will not autofocus if clutch is in AF and camera is in AF but will autofocus if clutch is in manual and camera is in AF.

Your copy might have a mixed up pin.

Does this happen to your other lenses on your cam? If not, then the fault lies in the lens.

Better bring it back & have it changed or serviced.

No such problem with other lenses. So must be due to fault in this lens I suppose.

Make a trip to Tokina service center at Tan Boon Liat Building near Outram Park.

Just bought this lens yesterday and loving it. Is there any online registration needed?

Hi all, glad to say am also a proud owner of this wonderful lens. Just 1 question though. All my shots thus far, has been sharp, sharp at 2.8 and sharper at 4.0 onwards, however i am experiencing something strange. When i view through the view finder, after focussing, the image is blur, but when the shot is taken, picture is sharp. I am wondering if this is also true for you guys? For example, i was taking a close up on my food, distance was barely 40cm away. So before i focussed, image was blur, once you focus, usually your viewfinder will sharpen up and then if the image is sharp, you press the shutter. For mine, the lens was focussing properly, but the view finder remained blur, and when i pressed the shutter, image was sharp. So i tried focussing with the LCD screen instead, it was blur, and when i focussed, the screen slowly became sharp and i pressed the shutter, picture turned out sharp. Can anyone tell me why is this so or is this normal? My other lens worked fine. no issues. thank you for reading.

Does the issue you mention only occur for this lens or all your lenses? You might want to check your diopter adjustment...

Do remember, if you are looking thr ur viewfinder, you are always at ur largest aperture unless u hold down ur DOF preview button. Unless u are saying the entire frame is blur due to diopter setting is wrong for ur eyes, what I state could be a probable reason.
