yea very true... sg have quite high cost of living... alot people hope to get out... but for old people i guess sg is consider a safer place to live in...

for the DMW-LA3, i actually got a 3rd party version of it... but hardly use it as i got the 46mm step up ring to 52mm from him, and seldom use tele... so i could sell u at low price

Hey, are you not planing to get a TCON? FZ18 is no fun without a TCON! But actually there are limitations to a TCON as well.

Hi ombre and skyguy, this will be my thirteenth trip to Singapore, usually make 2-3 visits per year for my wife to visit her family. Singapore is very much cheaper to live than Darwin.
Cars are cheaper here but that is just about it. Food is insanely expensive with one or two supermarkets running a monopoly, robbing the farmers and passing on highly inflated prices to the consumer.
Better not get on my soap box here, I could get myself in trouble:nono:
What price do you put on safety, what price do you put on knowing that your children are not being exposed to drugs?
IMHO Australia needs to take a leaf out of Singapores book.
That is one reason why I want to live in Singapore.

The other reason is to stop Amy from nagging.:bsmilie:

Ah I see, so its because of a girl! hah.

Well yea I agree about the safety part, but I don't think australia is that expensive either is it? In either case, I don't find food here cheap. Although I know about the monopoly issue over in Australia, my friend is currently studying there.

Still I personally would stay in Australia if I had been born there. Just my opinion but I think if it were safety issues, its not THAT bad there. And well, I still prefer the simple pace of life there. I've been there twice by the way. =)

And ah yes, Skyguy did say that you should research which shop here actually sells the TCON. I had trouble finding it myself when I wanted one, eventually got it from some CSer.

A few nights ago we got dinner from a restaurant/take away food shop. We had combination seafood claypot dish which was very ordinary, squid was like eating an old sand shoe. One small serve of steamed rice for my wife and I to share. Total price $41.00.

My wife's sons are CSers I am sure they will know their way around the camera shops but maybe not so familiar with Lumix. I have placed an order for the lens adaptor on ebay. I will also be interested in any 2nd hand TCON if any are available.

I'm going out to hunt some geese at a friends mango/rambutan farm this afternoon. Will take the camera and get some action shots. Don't know how well hunting pics will be recieved.:o

Thanks! :)

No I didn't use any filter. My camera is quite literally "as it is".

Yeah I just brought the camera REALLY close to the mantis in macro mode and manual focused it. This fella keeps trying to climb on my camera too. :bsmilie: So it took really long to get this shot.

Nice shot! But are you sure it tried to climb on your cam? It looks as terrified as insects can get. Quite brave of you to go that close tho.

In anycase, I had some bad experiences taking insects and tall grass areas. Once I was trying to snap something and I took quite long. After awhile, I looked down and both my legs were being swarmped by ants and I didn't even realized! I so totally freaked out.

41 dollars!? I'd fast for 10 days and buy myself a dSLR!

We or should I say I cook most of our meals because eating out is so expensive. That is also one reason I go hunting when the season is open. Today we shot on a friends mango farm and bagged our limit of geese. You are allowed 7 geese and 7 ducks per licensed shooter.
It is still too early in the season for ducks and they are pretty small and tough.
We got these 21 birds in the first hour after arriving at the farm which is 45min drive from Darwin.

my advise to u... dun go down to shop so fast... call them and ask for quote... then slowly think at home, which have benefit, which is cheaper... and to me, if got one shop that tell me before GST is wat price then after GST is wat price, i condem tat shop and won't go there at all... the GST thingy is like old trick liao loh...

anyway i heard sitex coming... u might wanna wait? (more freebie)

and someone is selling 2nd hand FZ28 in this forum, u might wanna consider... alittle more environmental, reduce reuse recycle... haha

and oh yea, alan photo cannot totally be trusted... example, u ask for original fz18 battery price, they say until quite cheap, then when u go there to buy, they show u 3rd party battery at tat price...

Actually I was there at the shop physically when I was quoted that price ($620.60 incl GST). AP is higher.

WHAT?! my gosh the poor birds! I thought you went to photograph the geese. Hah. Nice shooting, though, thats quite fast for an hour. How far were the geese from you when you shot them? Gee, I wish I could do shooting. I used to do air-rifles, but it gets so boring after awhile doing just range.

hi all... just got my fz 18 last week. !!

So so so cool !!!

The geese fly over in waves of 3-50 birds in V formation at varying heights from just above the tree tops to 200 metres high. 12 guage shot guns only have an effective range of about 50-60 metres. There have been a number of attempts to start a rice growing industry here but the Magpie geese have always managed to ruin their efforts. The rice is sown by aeroplane and the geese follow the plane and land in the fields and eat the seed. The Government was supporting the rice project but has since given up, beaten by black and white birds.:bsmilie:

Hi vinze, congratulations, looking forward to your postings.
