Hi Mr Cardgame, both look quite similar but the Filtered one seems a tad darker but not much diff in it at all. Just woke up to go hunting, about to load ammo and weapon into Suzi and hit the frog and toad.
Congrats on sale of lens, I can smell that money burning in your pocket already, you are just like me, see it, want it, got to buy it.:bsmilie::bsmilie:

I can't see anything much either... I noticed the top right shot was a little sharper than the filtered one. However, that said, doesn't make a big difference. Haha.

I've decided not to get a B+W filter for now... If for some reason my current filter crashes, I probably will "upgrade".

The money shouldn't burn that fast! Although I do need a wide angle lens now. =( Ironic that I never used my wide angle lens, and I sold it 2 days before the first time I plan to use it. At least I didn't make a loss.

when you bought ur FZ 18 (or 28 for the same reason), what compelled you to choose it? Were there other cameras that you considered and compared before choosing FZ?

I was looking for a super zoom,and I compared all the super zooms.

Ultimately the cutting factor was the price. I bought it from US during the downturn. =)
best rated and most recommended amongst the prosumers (I support this after understanding cameras a lot better now)

Offer some points and other new ones i picked up after I bought it

- Biggest aperture on the tele end. F4.2 (opposed to 4.4 - 5.3)
- Leica Lens (This alone should change your mind)
- Minimal barrel distortions
- Longest zoom, (504mm equiv FZ18) compared to most, 486mm Equiv. (unfortunately Fz28 is here) My other choice was Sony H7, which is 15X only.
- best built, most well organized controls.
- Filter rings (although the stupid adapter is costly), are all firm and normal sized... if you look at S8100 it has 43.1mm diameter, weirdness. Most others don't even have. Only Olympus and maybe Sony's (weird too) can match this.

- Lumix sounds cool, sounds luminous? haha.
- Battery life, - 400 shots, opposed to 200 (fuji) and 300 (sony / olympus ) equivalents


the only thing I didn't know about was ISO noise, which I still dislike (a lot) till today... but that said, its about the same as all the competing models, no way to clear it unless you get a dSLR.

Lastly lumix has one v cute showgirl. (Refer to Anson's panasonic event gallery) lol. But that's just extra. Not a real point.

i guess mine is pretty much the same as you. my dad wanted me to get the FZ18 cos he said leica lens are high-end lenses. i was almost going to buy the canon S5, but the salesman recommended FZ18 instead. Was actually thinking if I should get a second-hand DSLR instead of the FZ18, but someone told me that DSLR is quite a hassle when you lug it around. Although at times I wished I have gotten a DSLR instead, I'm really glad that I chose the FZ18 because I still learn alot about photography. I guess I will progress slowly

And also, if i didn't get the FZ18, i'll probably not have the chance to know and learn so much from you guys! I'm glad our FZ 18 forum doesnt have internal conflicts, cuz other threads do, especially with the recent Averal case.. but let's not make other people's business our business, and upkeep the peace and harmony of this thread (haha, i think i sound like some activist here)

by the way, skyguy MIA? he hasnt posted for so long.

Anyway you should have gotten a 2nd hand DSLR instead! but that said, I must admit I learnt alot from my FZ18 days...

You know, if someday I upgrade my body, I can let go my 350D to you if you're interested then. Will be a good price haha, but don't know if you want to pick up an old model. But that someday probably won't be anywhere within the next 12 months =)

Honestly no complains with my camera so far, if you're not hardcore, any of the $400 2nd hand models will serve you just as well as the 1.5k models. If you only view on comp screen and print up to 4-5R, completely no difference. =)



In anycase, I have a 1GB SD card which I don't feel like clinging on to. $5 for anyone in the outing. =)

What $20 for the cable and card? Haha, Dude! I was just kidding about the cable! The cable is worth nothing lol, I'd be daylight robbing you if I charged you $15 for the cable.

Its $5, and try to remind me about the cable, coz I tend to forget...

Yes it will fit the FZ18, its decent enough unless you plan to shoot a 20 minute long movie. Not as elite as your current card however.

Sorry if I have itchy fingers!!! I thought the photo was a little over-exposed and abit washed out, probably the camera got tricked somehow... Did tried to meddle with it abit.. (not sure if I made it worse, but its still not perfect I feel. Not entirely what I had in mind... the purple + yellows seem better but I kind of lost the greens)

of both, I think I prefer the first. Even though its a little washed out, the greens and the purple has put some characteristic in it.

But the 2nd one is not bad either but it looks kinda gloomy to me.

Haha its okay, I did it in like 1 minute. I just wanted to bring out the purple abit more, but then inevitably I changed the greens, which made it look abit weird. But I was too lazy to adjust it and it wasn't my picture so..hm =X

Also maybe our monitors colors are different haha, I'm not exactly sure if mine's calibrated =X

you're using ipod classic?
im using ipod touch..for touch, it's only possible for transfers from computer to ipod.. not sure about classic!

haven't really got 1, but was in my mind, coz tat tripod is very portable and can be deploy almost anywhere... very useful for class or friend outing... all u need to do is just use some strenght to bend the leg and tats it

gorilla pod is the original, which state tat it can handle higher weight...
