Thoughts on LEICA M ?

The APO Vario Elmarit R 70-180mm was my choice zoom lens. However the weight and the almost similarly rated R80-200 vario elmar skewed my choice.
Jono Slacks reported positive usage experience on the said lens due to M's better high ISO.
It all depends on the trade off between weight and lens speed if handheld operation on a medium telephoto Lena is concern.
I'm looking forward to try my R80-200mm vario elmar lens on my M after the R adaptor becomes available.

Focusing on M with focus peaking aid on my APO summicron M 90mm becomes a breeze now.

D R adaptor still not available? Wow. Any test pics comparing wif m9 or m8? More on d IQ and color rendition rather than d iso performance. Tks

I used to own a 50mm summicron R and that was one bloody heavy lens. I think either a light f4 zoom or a prime really is appropriate for this.

I have this mint Carl Zeiss T* 18mm Distagon F4 (made in West Germany) lens bought 30 years ago that I am so excited now that I can use it on my M again. Nostalgic!

Personally I think it will be interesting to mount the Carl Zeiss 15mm/f2.8 Nikon mount onto the camera.

what's the price in SG? anyone know?

Gommy,
I'll try to take some shots this weekend. My workload now is unforgiving now.

Panamera,
My buying price was bundled with a 35mm Summicron M lens, so I did not get to know the M body price even after purchase.

Going to MBS tonight to get poisoned...

I thought the little built-in Thumbsup on the top plate is a very nice design! Can save the money buying another new thumbsup for sure. Think with that will be able to stabilize the camera much better when using heavier R lenses.

Yeah I will be very interested in the comparison too! Change from CCD to CMOS sensor. Wonder what will be the difference.

Nice! Hope to own a set one day. Can use the 35-70 f4 and 80-200 f4 on it.
Will the EVF zoom in / out when used with R zooms?

@sillbeers15: you must work hard for your M!:) Thks.

Far far away,
Unfortunately the rear tump wheel hump isn,t as profile and provide as much grip as the 'Thumps up' attachment.
To support R tele lens with one hand requires the addition of the handgrip.

I went to the Leica store to handle the camera for a short while. All I can say is, if the M9 felt like a rather immature product with way too many kinks, the M is definitely a much more mature product and feels like something that is at least close to current age technology.

But I have no money for it now, and my M9 will have to suffice for the near term. Perhaps when the M is the next ME I might think about it.

Today play with the M240 with my 100R APO-Macro and 180R APO
