Think Tank Bags

Aww man, Urban Disguise 50 is too heavy for me... Anyone wants to exchange their 40 with my 50? No need to top up the difference...
Considering the UD40/50 but worried the weight will kill my shoulder. Have a Lowepro Stealth Reporter 300D for when i can carry less but it really strains out my shoulder (perhaps bag not rigid enough to hold that much weight)

Might need to carry the following around for events/weddings/etc:
5d + 400d
24-70 + 70-200 or 85 + 16-35
two 580EX

Will the UD40/50 be able to fit all that in?

Also, assuming i'll get a Change Up as well so maybe carry a body and the main lens there. would it be logical and more importantly, practical?

Been searching for the right bag for carrying gear haha..had to resort to using chalk pouches (for lenses) and messenger bags and pouches to carry other stuff. Thanks for the advice beforehand!

Just to share with you how I carry my stuff for events:

This is the combination I used most of the time: UD50 + modulus belt system.

Equipment carried:
1) 17-40mm f4
2) 70-200mm f2.8 IS
3) 24-105mm f4 IS
4) IDMK3
5) 5D
6) 2 X 580EXII
7) Laptop

3 of my lens, each will be put into a Lens Change before putting into the main compartment of UD50. 1DKM3 and 1 X 580 EX II will be put into the front pouch of UD50. Laptop into the laptop slot in UD50.

5D into the speed changer fixed onto the belt system with 1 x 580 EX II in Lightning fast.

During action: I just take whatever lens in Lens Changer and fixed onto the belt. Sling my whatever cameras with len fixed around my neck. This will lighten my load on my UD50.
No worries on the load on the belt. The weight is evenly distributed.

This combination is the most Kiasu part.
Cheers!

I think UD40 is already sufficient as stated in the TTP website. You will need to bring your equipment down to TK to try out the best fitting bag.

Having the Change Up to carry one body and lens may ease the burden on your shoulder if you are carrying the UD40/50 as well but actually you can put more stuffs into the Change Up. However, are the 5D and 400D attached with battery grip? I think it is pretty practical as you can also store your 580EXs in its side pouches. A Pro Speed Belt or Speed Demon will be a good substitute for the Change Up.

Great idea. Makes me want to get a UD50 to transport my Change Up system.

umm....using a camera bag to carry another camera bag system? I would suppose the belt system with the harness would be good enough for his case.

During action,

Change Up
Lightning Fast
Large Lens Drop in x 02

and when packing up, 1 nice big duffle bag would be fine.

....Never try this combination...Thanks for the idea.
Or maybe just sling the belts system over the shoulder.

Which models do you have in mind before going? Sounds like you are going for the smaller bags/pouches. The next shipment sure will have more stuffs. The sales yesterday should be quite a morale boost.

Yup, the walking 18% grey-card is me ;p Was there during lunch hour to take a look first at the stuffs and the prices first. Went back after work to pick up what I have decided but too bad Cable Management 10 and Chimp Cage were sold out...
I saw you on the first day, we were discussing about the 360 Rotation together ;) You should have bought what you want during the lunch time, there still have everything then. I bought the UD 60, its a tight fit for me to close the zip with my 30D with grip... I find the detachable padding a little flimsy, maybe its made that way so that the UD 60 will not look too bulky and squarish, giving it a more natural look.

This is for the the other guy. Might not be good for you since you have a laptop with you as well.

seriously I do not think that the UD series is meant to fit a camera with a lens attached.

I was still struggling over what to get: a big backpack like the Rotation 360 / Airport Antidote or to get additional components to add onto my Change Up. However Chimp Cage will be in next shipment and it is coming soon :)

30D with grip?! Won't it be better to put it in the front pockets?

That is somewhat similar to what I am using ;p

:nono:....It can fit a small cam with small to mid-tele zoom lens attached. I can put a 5D with 24-105mm in the main compartment. But for large camera like 1D series and long lens unable to fit into the UD series.

At least, they protect my camera well. :)

That is what I thought so too. Gonna head down there for some coffee and listen Uncle Richard's bird talk(if he is in a good mood). Anyone gonna be there around 615?

I lazy lah, like to have the lens on then take out can shoot then keep it back. I tried stowing the body in the front pouch, there is no problem. I bring the UD for working trips piggy on top of my trolley bag. If possible I will bring it out for sight see trip or street shots. If I bring my Cargo bag along then I will have more space to bring my Velocity 9x along to go walking around.

the UD 60 can take my 30D with grip and 24-70mm f2.8, its just that the zip is just a little difficult to close, but i believe when the bag is season it should be ok

might be a stretch as the lowepro is a thinner than the pro speed belt.

Thanks. Will see if i can drop by TK to check again. The photo runner size is so far my ideal size but i don't like the waist belt all that much as its hard to shift around and can get a bit uncomfortable at times. The other waist packs that TT have are all too big for my use. The Change Up was really nice (well made, designed, etc) but much too tall for my liking. If they had the Change Up in about half the height it would be just nice for me.

Really? I had read many posts in which people are actually wishing that the Change Up can be taller to accommodate other bigger camera + lens setups.

change up is meant for the usual DSLR minus grip, rite? if you want it as half the height.. u are talking abt PnS or prosumers.

you must be crazy to carry a securely packed hardcase on your back the whole day. the idea is to be fast and well protected at the same time, not to overkill babying your equipment. As for the lowepros, some of them the build quality are not bad but the design just plain sucks.

The glass taxi is good, but just lacks more rails on the sides for adding modulus pouches.

Of course you have to be crazy to carry a hardcase on your back.

I made that comment because from some of the posts here it seems Thinktank is the last word on protection.

As for the glass taxi, yes it does seem short of space, one supertelephoto plus an SLR (and you can't fit an SLR for anything bigger than a 300 2.8) and that's about it. Then again you don't go swinging around with a supertelephoto unless you mean to use it; that is why i don't think adding pouches on the glass taxi is necessary. plus the you can't open the bag fully with pouches hanging from the front rail.
