Think Tank Bags

This is a follow-up to my issue with the stitches for the modulus loops coming loose on my Change Up. After contacting Doug on the issue, I received an email from James of TK on an one-to-one exchange of the Change Up! A good start to local TTP warranty

wah! excellent service!

Bought the Thinktank Glass Taxi sometime in July because it offers SMART (not more) protection for long lenses.

There is no padding on the sides but very generous padding on the bottom, which cuts down on the weight and size of the bag.

This is logical since the lens sits squarely in the middle with ample space from the sides and a side impact should not affect the lens directly.

I'll buy Thinktank only if the design is superior. For protection, a securely packed hardcase is the way to go.

Build quality of the Thinktank is good but not any better than the new model Lowepros.

you must be crazy to carry a securely packed hardcase on your back the whole day. the idea is to be fast and well protected at the same time, not to overkill babying your equipment. As for the lowepros, some of them the build quality are not bad but the design just plain sucks.

The glass taxi is good, but just lacks more rails on the sides for adding modulus pouches.

Need to get the belt to increase the rails.

I know that part but what if you dont want to use the belt and still wanted more capacity? I emailed Doug about it. He sees the idea but cant say when they will revise the design.

Agreed, as you mentioned the rails on the front has limitation in terms of capacity expansion. I think it can only put 1 or 2 more LC or 1 chim cage and thats it.

But if you wish to add more components to the glass taxi, TTP will have to strengthen the shoulder straps. The connecting parts at the top do not seem to be able to withstand substantial weight...

that is why I requested them to look into that matter. Makes for a good casual camera bag or a fully loaded monster.

Aww man, Urban Disguise 50 is too heavy for me... Anyone wants to exchange their 40 with my 50? No need to top up the difference...

I have just exchanged my spoilt Change Up for a brand new piece :) Thumbs up for the excellent service by TTP and TK

However, James and I discussed on the possibility of further failures of the loops and the strength of the stitches to hold lens cases/pouches with heavy items in place. The issue will be discussed with TTP to see if a local solution is to be devised as exchange and sending back the spoilt item is too troublesome for TTP.

And there is another shipment coming pretty soon... ;)

that is fast....

The next shipment will have some of the smaller items such as the camera strap ( I want the 18% grey one!), camera support straps, cable management 10 and of course, the popular Chimp Cage. Hope it will arrive real soon

Already reserved some just in case some bros got fast hands and sharp cards...

Curious. Can the "pro speed belt" be used as the waist belt for a bag like the lowepro photo runner? The photo runner has a loop at the back which should be able to fit the belt through but dunno if it would be weird. Anyone have both and can try? ;p Thanks.

might be a stretch as the lowepro is a thinner than the pro speed belt.

The chairman of TTP fan club has his own waiting list. It is a gold-plated booklet where items listed in it will arrive in less than 24 hours ;p

Guys, if possible, please contribute your reviews on items not currently in the review thread for the benefit of others :)
