Incidentally, how many people use Pentax? Why do u use it as an example of open standard? I thought they fit Pentax cameras only? :dunno:

Because K Mount was the original open standard for Boynent Mounting and M39, M42 was the original Screw mounting standard. Everyone can use the same K mount mounting without paying a royalites to anyone.

K Mount was invented in 1975, which means it is 30 years old, created to try to standardise all Boynent mounts. It is not for Pentax Cameras only, it is used in almost all Russian Cameras that does not uses the M42 mount (basically because they do not need to pay royalites) and a lot of older cameras from Ricoh, Chinon, Sears, Quantary, Afga, Voigltander, etc etc, reason being not required to pay royalities. All the K mount lenses from different manufacturers are interchangable.

K mount is not meant for Pentax only. Thus if Oly + Kodak really want to standardise the mount, they should use K-mount (mainly because there are mountains of Lenses available) and work on it instead of creating a new mount and hoping people will be suckered into it and bring down all the other lenses ..... However, Oly also know if they uses K mount, no one in their right frame of mind will buy a Zuiko lens as well, since the lens is very expensive.

i think he meant as in display the honeycomb on the LCD? like in the D7?

that is correct. i went thru the manual, but still can't "FIND my way out".
seen so many reviews, they keep talking about this, but when comes to understand how to use it, NO ONE state how to even activate it

In D7 manual, can still state out how to use the function to see the honeycomb pattern.

7D doesn't have honeycomb display at the rear LCD..

Just use the histogram lah, I think better also.

feature removed from D7 to give you 7D, in fact, a few other features were also removed from D7. Someone continue from here.

If you use the instant playback with image and histogram, the highlights and shadows do no blink like when you play it back normally. And histogram alone will only tell you if you have blown highlights or not. It doesn't tell you where in the photo it is blown. So I still have to do the normal playback to check. Slightly troublesome.

I hope they might fix this with the next firmware.

Cheers!

7D uses 14 segment honey-comb metering, but does not has the honey comb metering display like the Dynax 7 film.
;)

Another thing missing is the DOF calculator...ER... anything else?

For the metering, no the 7D does not have the display.

Does the Dynax 7 have a DOF calculator?

I believe most of the removed feature were mentioned by Magnus. Why he in Sweden (I hope I get it right)? Come to Singapore. ;)

Just press DOF button, as long as you're using (D) lens, the display will appear.
