The Sony DSC-QX100/QX10 is official

Why must u always have lewd ideas?

Let's just stick to photography. Aerial photography for consumer is considered a new branch in photography/videography. With better quality cameras like QX10/100, it provides greater flexibility. A lot better than a Gopro or Sony action.

Yes, wifi is limited for photo at the moment but someone might one day engineer a wireless mechanical shutter and zoom for such rig. The UAV can fly up to 5km away but remote shutter is a bit problem with wifi.

Just learn the video recording needs the app to run. So if wifi disconnected I guess video stops. Too bad no dedicated video button but then again it's designed for use close proximity to the phone.

Sending it into people's homes is not lewd. What are u thinking of? :bsmilie:

Got an invitation to preview this camera. Not really interested as only JPG plus I got a RX100. :D

Damn! Just when I go fully window (window tablets, window phone, window everything), Sony had to release something that I really wanted :(

Haiz... should I go back to android again... or will Sony come up with the window app? Come on!

Not surprised with kai's findings but a little disappointed. That said I have problems with the Toshiba flashair app working well with my iphone 5 via wifi as well.

Tried both Qx10 and Qx100 during the preview. The downside of the Qx series is the playmemories app. Even with NFC, the connection took a while and somehow with Qx10 is takes forever (maybe indirectly tell me to get Qx100). There were some lags, some disconnection and some waiting (if you save full resolution on your camera, switch to 2Mpx will be better but still some wait ). The camera control is limited. Qx100 has aperture priority mode but no control of ISO, therefore in low light it will have tendency to lower the shutter speed instead of upping the ISO.

Qx10 is too small and even with OSS I cannot seems to get a good shot. The image quality to me seems like those you get from smartphones. Qx100 IQ is of course much better. Althought size looks huge but the size just nice to hold on hand. I will say the 2 hands (one with lens camera and another hand with phone) photo taking takes a while to master.

SRP for Qx10 is $349 and SRP for Qx100 is $649.

I've tried both during the preview and was not impressed with the handling & result. If you pay about S$200 more, you'll get a RX100MK2 with better features.

I was there too :p

But i don't think the cameras are made for professionals, but for hipsters.

Youngsters like me will get it :bsmilie:

but still the thing is, i'm able to get shake-free shots.

I was there too to test out the camera Lens.. Too bad both got no bulb mode..

Hmm... reading quite of number (including watching the video by Digitalrev)... the concept is good, don't know why so many people are blasting it. I would expect very good IQ if it is using the same sensor as the RX100.

Whatever issue mentioned should be able to be corrected with a firmware upgrade. And knowing Sony, the firmware upgrade should be right around the corners....

But it still don't support window phones :(

It's a new concept to draw in a new market and for this, I must say well done Sony.

Lytro came and goodness know where r they now, it's not easy to break new ground.

This will attract the self-cam , foodie cam people who don't want to carry around a camera body but who yet appreciate the good glass and a sensor. In all, I'd say good idea and for the price ; still kinda reasonable.

I've a student , 17yr old who just got the lower end version in Japan ; and looking at his FB posts he is one very satisfied customer.

Only issue left is to market it effectively. Nokia 1020's IQ can't be compared to this but I'm sure the person in the street will most probably be convinced the Lumia 1020 is a better camera instead.

Any news if the QX100 is available in Singapore?

It's isn't even available in Japan yet. Will hit stores on the 26th. Maybe November in Singapore?

Apart from the bugs that plagues play memories , the qx series can be quite enjoyable to use. The value of this camera is that it is part of your phone. It makes uploading photos to Internet and social sites a breeze. I did realize putting a memory card onto the qx helps to minimize post shots crashes. Connecting is relatively fast using wifi on my iPhone5.

The OSS works pretty well and it does remove a lot of the hand shake movement that is very common in phone photography.
