Have done a search on this key word ---> ROKKOR, but found no matches so far in CS...

I'm wondering whethe there is / are some owner(s) of this type of Minolta old lense out there... :think:

35mm f1.8 Rokkor
28mm f2.8 Rokkor
I think got Rokkor zoom lenses - deep inside dry cabi - so never look.
also the Rokkors on my 7SII rangefinders.

just curious why do u have more than 1 Tokkor 50mm f1.7?

And one stupid quest.... is Rokkor compatibles to minolta newer body like Dynax series (Dyn5, 7, 9, etc...)?

Just itchy hand, buy 50mm quite cheap. Std lens is cheap and good. Light and bright. After a while when you have satisfied the want to own long lenses, unless you shoot birds or racing cars, normally you stop at 300mm.
Then after a while you appreciate the cheap but good std lens.

My MD lenses are manual focus and will not fit the autofocus Dynax.

Simplicity is a good thing.

Yeah, get a normal lens first, there are many for sale at the Peninsula area shops.......

I use an SR-1, XE, XM-Motor, getting an XDs soon......lenses: 21mm/2.8, 24mm/2.8 VFC, 58mm/1.2, 85mm/1.7, 200mm/2.8, some (three) macrobellows lenses and the bellows itself (bought from a good friend), looking for an MC 35mm/1.8 and a black SRT-303, and maybe a black SR-1, saw a few in Tokyo when I was there.

btw, how is the ranking of the bodies that u mentioned ---> SRT, SR, etc...

from the website, SRT has 100 series, 200 series & 300 series... there are only 100series that can be found in KEH store.

Minolta makes perhaps the best mirror lenses.

The 250mm F5.6 mirror is perhaps the finest mirror lens made.

Yes, I typically use 20-21mm view for all my images (free work)......my favourite lens.....The SR is smaller than the SRT's and also cheaper on eBay.......KEH (or was it MPEX) sells at a good price, BUT they send only by courier which makes them expensive. I usually buy from Bill Cameta (www.cameta.com) or eBay off course. The SR shutter is noisy, think the SRT is smoother, I forgot, had one years ago........

Heard there was an XK too.
You got the fancy VFC lens. Can control the plane of focus.
nice set of lenses.

the older SRT series had metering called CLC which was contrast light compensation, an early attempt to auto adjust meter reading when subject is against high backlight.

SRT-101 was popular in Singapore.

Someone told me he bought Seagull SLR and it was Minolta mount camera made under license. The std lens he bought was also Seagull but MD mount and he said very sharp. Not sure if it is true.

Yes they are manual focus MD mount lenses made in China.
Got solid metal feel. I think no plastic.
Heavy glass.

The XM Motor was easier to find ten years ago, they are getting rarer and rarer by the year.....although the grip is nice, it really fits your hand. Yes, there was the XM (for Europe), XK (US market) and the X-1 for the Japanese market.

I don't quite like the fact that you must press the button on the grip in order to activate the auto exposure. If you don't press the button (on the XK/XM/X-1: the 'touch' strip), the camera will fire at one speed I think, NOT at the speed it is supposed to when the metering is activated!

X-300/370 clones were (possibly still are) sold under many brand names. I'm not sure if they all are/were made by Seagull.

Very interesting.
I think the designer's concept was this:
The XM is a professional grade camera. Being targeted at Pros, they will always leave it to the user to decide the exposure. That is the DEFAULT mode where the XM user decides the exposure setting and not the camera.
However, if the user wishes to let the camera decide the auto exposure, then he consciously presses a button on the grip to allow this.
