Starting to explore the pixel shift function which is one of the reason for me getting the K1.
I have left the full sized sample on my Flickr.
You won't be able to tell the difference using the image posted here as its too small.

There are 2 selections for the pixel shift function, I think I will need to go find out what one does over the other. :)

For now, I'm on Selection#1.

First impression using it was, 'wow! thats faster than I thought'.
I had thought it like exposure bracketing or HDR where the camera takes 3 images in succession and a wait in processing.
So I was very surprised that all it too was for the camera to flip up the mirror once, and all 3 images are taken.

To use it effectively (this applies to selection 1 for now), I think one has to do a pixel shift image as well as a normal one. (camera on tripod of course)
Steps :
1. Do normal 1 shot
2. Do PS shot
3. Process both to taste on RAW converter
4. Open in PS
5. Align layers and create a layer mask
6. Look thru the image and mask off areas that have movement artifacts.

It may sound a bit of work, but my opinion is that any detailed shot would require the discipline to look thru the image and fix stuff anyway (eg. cloning dust bunnies; removing ppl; exposure blend; dodge/burn, etc).

Maybe Selection#2 can clean up movement artifacts better?? I need to try, or even better some guys help chip in on the info. :)

I would certainly hope others will start exploring and come up with new/better ideas on this.

IQ at the end, is Fantastic! and to me its worth the bit of effort.
I will post up a full size sample of the non-PS image for better comparison later.

Thx jk for the effort. Actually i did try out the ps when i 1st bought at home. There is 2 mode mc on and mc off. I used the mc on. Tonight i might try out and will post once i got time.

Tamron 28-75 seem like another lens which works well on the K1.
I think it is a long forgotten lens. Those who have it, do try it on the K1. Value for money lens.

I also agree that this has somehow become a forgotten lens.
The victim of the pursuit of the new and shiny perhaps.

Tamron 28-75/2.8 is a proven workhorse of a lens.

I only sold it because I decided to go all primes many years back.

Wow. Did not know that the K1 has landed in SG. The pics looks great.

Great moment for the local Pentaxians.

Shot during lunch today, met JK in the lift. ;)

Pentax K1 test shot #2 by Ken Goh, on Flickr

Shot with Natural color profile, K1 has a Skin Tone setting #1 and #2, anyone tried? Which setting is better for people/portrait?

For me, I am reminded of AA vs non-AA filter back again.
But of course this time, the K1 is already a non-AA filtered camera.
The Pixel Shifted image is cleaner in noise and has more details.

The catch is that one has to fix for some movement artifacts as mentioned in the previous post.

Fa50 f1.7 Heard is the sharpest 50mm...

I placed my K1 on the table and switched on timer for both photos.

Seems with pixel shift(PS) the whole photo seems well exposed with colors standout individually. Is it because every pixel have RGB recorded?

The PS off photo seems as per normal shooting as some part will be darker.

This is my own analysis...any other opinion to better explain? Thank you.

Can't really tell yet cause just this two example. 1st look i like the PS on photo. Sorry if from hp can't see difference. From my pc i can see all colors very very well lite up and because of this, detail also better. I will go take again outside if got time. Thank you
