The Pentax 50mm Lens Thread

anyone talked abt F50 f1.7?
just got a perfect condition 2nd hand one n feel like this is the lens i was looking for.
sharp even at f1.7, of course normally just use f2.2+ with unbeaten sharpness
fast autofocus, but with a little bit focus shift issue...

Took a walk around Haji Lane today with the Revuenon 55/1.2
Its not as highly acclaimed as the OEM 50/1.2 but to me it has its own character.
The lens was designed/made by Tomioka but also comes rebadged as Cosina, Revuenon, Vivitar

Just got my Sigma 50mm f/1.4 HSM. A honking huge lens size wise, at 505g, it is probably the biggest and heaviest 50mm lens for Pentax K-mount. Focusing is very FAST and silent but the remarkable thing is the sharpness wide open... awesome. Compared to the DA* 55mm f/1.4, it does focus faster, but it doesn't have WR and loses out on color rendition but that aside, it does a good job.

A quick shot at yesterday's gathering shot handheld under mixed ambient lighting.
Straight out of the camera, resized. (K-5IIs, 1/200sec at f/1.4, ISO400)

Let's see the details on his watch (100% crop)

Oooh... And watch that bokeh.... *faints*
Sigma lenses are simply designed to be used wide open... Haha!

Don't sidetrack this thread with idle chit chat. This is a 50mm appreciation thread, so please post photos taken with a 50/55mm lens on a Pentax camera.
Start using that standard lens that you all have somehow orphaned and neglected to good use lah.

Some of my old photos from FA 50mm f/1.4. The first 50mm I bought and sold off after I bought DA55mm. Use mostly the DA55mm for street photo now.

Nice results, bro.

Other than the size and weight, and probably lack of WR, I'd say this Sigma is really gonna give the DA*55/1.4 a run for its money.

I'm still interested in the DA*55mm because the Pentax color rendition is punchier. The sharpness is more even from center to edge with the DA*55mm and the WR definitely makes it very desirable with the dreary weather we have now. The Sigma is really nice wide open with little or no vignetting. Center sharpness is just outstanding.

Well, if you are looking for a DA*55, you know whom to ask ;)

Re sharing one with my K01 and A50 1.4mm.

So long no use my A50 for awhile :P

There's a 50mm f1.2 attached to my MX at the moment.
