Hi all,

Have been reading this thread, any opinions on upgrading my D80 to the D7000? Was considering the D300s too, but decided that the extra weight was not desirable.

Mostly using my D80 on my travels, plus to take pictures at gatherings. Will be using soon to take baby pics :D

Haha thanks for the reply bro, just picked up my D7000 at iPhoto this afternoon!

Haha jeff, I did consider the D700, but i think my wife nearly jumped when I told her the price of D700 body only.

Baby steps I guess :D

As you have chosen D7000, what lenses have you prepared for your baby shoot.

I would recommend AF-S 35mm f/1.8G.
AF-D 50mm f/1.8 is also a good option, for the head shoot.

Just prepare both :)

All set! Actually since the D7000 is not my first Nikon, I think I'm quite set already :D

Have a 35mm f/1.8 and the 50mm f/1.4 :D

I have just got a D7000, I sorta like it coming from another brand. having said that. I think D300S seems better tho.. and more ex

Just a random question, how much is D7000 body only?

Based on the price guide, the price for D7000 body only is around S$2000.

In general, people who has already had D90 or D300(s), won't sell it to buy D7000. People who has already had D7000, also won't sell it to buy D300s
I could say that this is a par.

However, people who is still using D40(x), D60, D70(s), D80, D200, D3000, D5000, or newcomers, should be poisoned enough to upgrade :bsmilie:

D300s has more of a Pro-body. The LCD on the top is also bigger i suppose.

Depends. Best denki, Courts or challenger MAY have installment plans by credit card though.

Hi all. I'm still planning on a purchase between the D7000 and D300s. Just wondering, the D300s is often referred to as a "semi-pro" camera. How do you define semi-pro. Would the D7000 be considered a semi-pro, and why?

Appreciate any feedback. Cheers
