Maybe it's time for me to upgrade my C-2100UZ to the E-300 when it ocmes out! :D

I heard it will be on the shelves in Dec but does anyone know when. Coz I would like to take the X'mas scenes ( I am w/out any camera now so waiting for the E-300)

Also, any recommendations on where to get this camera? Does anyone know if Olympus will bundle together with their gifts during the launch or do they do so after the launch?

Thanks!

nice little camera :) would greatly increase competition in the entry digital SLR market.

wah, thanks. But the lens are very expensive :(
My colleague is going to Tokyo in about 1 week, so thinking of asking her to buy. This means the camera is about S$1,700..

According to Oly Technical Support in Japan, they are releasing the E-300 body in Japan only during Spring 2005 (around March). I don't know about S'pore but I don't expect anything sooner than March 2004 for this gem to appear in the Malaysian market. :(

the kit lens bundle will be available before x'mas. heard its mid of this month. the body only ver. will be release next year sometime after PMA. E1 users can get this as a backup. :) or perhaps by PMA next year, E1 users r looking forward to the E3. :bsmilie:

I hv gone to the Yodobashi website and Oly Jpn webite ( I read japanese so unless I misunderstand the japanese trade jargon.)
The camera + lens = they call it the lens set is available end Nov
Body only = spring 2005

The prices seem very competitive. The 10% rebate from Yodobashi is incidentally not a cash discount but points whereby you can exchange for discount at next purchase. I hv their point cards but did not visit Japan so long already...

It is not $1400, it will be close to $1600 based on today buy yen rate.

Also, they are using the 4/3 system so that focal length is halved. (200mm = 400mm on 35mm camera). The camera size is also reduced. Very good for lady user.

Do note that U'll need wider aperatures to get the same shallow DOF effect.

Thanks, do you know how to calculate this?

If they sell the kit at S$1400, that's real good deal. Cheaper than 8MP prosumer cams.

Oly has just launch a massive price reduction across all their digicams. it sure looks like they r making way for the new E300. last heard the C8080 has dropped to $15xx.

t'is the season to be jolly.... la la la la la la la la la....

BUY! BUY! BUY!

If i remembered correctly, a 2x crop factor will need to increase the aperature size by 2 stops bah...

Just saw on the Yodobashi site that the camera will be on sale on 3/12! :)

It had been long since olympus came out with their camera.

This is call "慢工出細貨".

87,800yen

E-300 (body only) on sale date and price not confirmed yet,but
estimated shld be under 80k yen

ZUIKO DIGITAL 40-150mm F3.5-4.5 on sale on 11/20 @ 26,600yen

Serene, what are u waiting for ? Go grab it and be the 1st in CS to own
this baby.

Thanks for the lead. I just sent a request for quotation too. I better watch out for the Buy yen rate so that I can buy this camera at the cheapest possible. Do you think I will be the first @ CS to buy this camera? I wonder if it is more worth it to watch for promotion launch in Singapore as Olympus normally provides good gifts. Also read that some shops in Japan is quoting around 80,000yen = $1,300 = this is really affordable :)

The shop Ogisaku replied with a quotation of 87,800yen same as the earlier post has indicated. This means that with this week's buy yen rate, body + lens should cost not more than $1,400. It seems that someone on the above mentioned forum reserved for an even cheaper price at another shop.
